Re: Servicing costs

Thanks for the suggestions, I often think these service plans are another money making effort to sell you something - often under pressure when you are sorting the deal in the showroom - but based on individual costs it looks better value. Anyhow it might be gone next year could fancy a change in 20...

Strange marks on outside of windscreen

Has anyone noticed a 'mottled' pattern on the outside of the glass as the wipers sweep? Looks a bit like the pattern on a rainbow trout fish - I reckon it's a residue from a polythene cover fitted at the factor to the screen but it won't come off despite trying with Autoglym glass polish etc. I thin...

Servicing costs

So I phone up the main dealer as it's now showing 'Oil service due' in 900 miles - they quote £203 just to change the oil and do a few checks..oh and give it a free wash. Then told me it will need another inspection at 19k with pollen filter. I declined to combine the two as I'm not paying more than...

Re: GTI+ Ride Quality and Black Roof

I don't have a GTI only a basic SE but the ride quality is awful - it's on 16 inch wheels but the tyres are Falken 'Reinforced' and hard as nails even on standard pressures. Can't wait to swap them they are nearly worn out anyhow at 14,000 miles not brilliant. Never had reinforced tyres before on an...

Re: Why a jack when no spare wheel?

Sorry forgot to take a photo  Subwoofer is that black plastic part with yellow conector on left side :) There is plenty of space for space saver What is the box in the middle strapped down? It looks like a battery but might be the inflator and foam kit? Sub woofer looks a very neat installati...

Nice looking car 8)

What additional extras does it have over the SE? I spotted a more sporting steering wheel and a body kit?

Re: Please help !!!

Maybe invest in a more expensive one now you are happy about the operation of the lights and accessories if it's going to be a permanent fixture?

Re: Handbrake playing up again!

Just to add it seems recall just for cars with rear drum brakes. Presume disc models are unaffected. Two recalls in six months on an 18 plate car - never had any before in 30 years of driving! It smacks of penny pinching using cheap materials or rushed out launch model without development.

Re: Handbrake playing up again!

I have just got a recall letter in the post Safety Recall - 46H9 - Parking Brake ...affected Polo vehicles with rear drum brake the operation-related movement of the brake shoes and the related settling of the drum brake can lead to a loss of tension on the handbrake cables and therefore on the adj...

Re: Handbrake playing up again!

I remember years ago you could get handbrake cables with a grease nipple fitted halfway along to lubricate - imagine nowadays nobody owns a grease gun so it's all obsolete. My handbrake is stiff and sometimes doesn't hold well, have just got used to it and to be honest with hill hold it's not requir...

Re: TPMS

I have had a couple of false alarms from the TPMS - checked an all tyres were spot on no drop in pressures. I have topped them up and reset it but it's a bit random. My previous Fiesta had the actual valve monitoring system in each wheel (indicated by a yellow sticker on the alloys) which seemed a m...

Re: What would you change about your Polo?

Better headlights
Heated front windscreen
Standard 15 inch wheels instead of the 16 inch that it came with - ride too jiggly and unsettled drives me nuts.
Better gearing - high gearing robs it of any get up and go from standstill
Cruise control instead of the cheap speed limiter function

Re: Polo SE waiting times

I would cut my losses and walk away - not worth waiting all that time life is too short. Just go to a VW dealer and pick up an ex-demo SE or courtesy car, there are loads around they rotate the stock every few months. Might even get a better deal and recoup some losses. No point waiting until Septem...

Re: Misty headlight

Could be a combination of both mild weather and heat - I often see mist inside after the car has been washed or in damp weather, not sure if it's the damp attracted to the cold surface? Very annoying as it looks awful. There must be a very small leak / break in the seal around the headlamp cover whe...
