Re: Polo GTI "whistle" sound
The infotainment fan is located around the glovebox compartment and you can hear it but it doesn’t sound like that sound you have. In my new polo the fan is a lot quieter than the last polo I owned from 2019, but another thing it could be is your air conditioning pump as it sounds like some sort of ...

Re: Please help! 2020 Match TSI - Turbo failure at 35,000 miles
Hi Maisierobs, In light of the information that the turbo actuator rod appears significantly older than the car and the suggestion that it may have been previously repaired, here are some factual points you can present to the dealer; Condition of the Rod - The apparent age and condition of the turbo...

Steering wheel ripples
Hi all, I had a bad habit of driving with my right hand mainly and after a year and 3 months it’s caused the right side of my steering wheel to be all ripples. I’ve attached a picture so you can see what I mean. Is there anyway of getting these out or making the leather filled out so it’s plush agai...

Re: High Idle/ Rough engine
My 1.0 tsi with GPF idles at around 900rpm once it has fully warmed up. The first start it will idle at 1500rpm then after 20 seconds or more if is cold and will go back down. I’ve had my car for a year and 3 months and it’s never idled that high when it’s been at operating temperature. I would defi...

Re: New Buyer Advice!
I have a facelift polo R line and haven’t had any problems in the year and 3 months that I’ve owned it. There is one slight annoyance I noticed that after a few months whenever I play loud music with high bass the rear door cards vibrate and so do the front ones. I specified my one to come with blin...

Re: Dash faults driving me mad!
When you say that you spoilt the water over the electrics when filling up the washer fluid, I think that would be the ECU and the external fuse box that was doused with screen wash. I would think that it does sound a bit of a coincidence that the indicators states flashing when you did that so perha...

Re: Oil change schedule
The long life schedule which says you can drive up to a maximum of 2 years / 19600 miles is the one which takes into account your driving styles, engine loads, temperature and other parameters to continuously monitor the oil quality and adjust the schedule as appropriate. The yearly option will not ...

Re: Tyre pressure warning(?)
An indirect TPMS system can still detect a gradual and equal pressure loss in all tires, but it operates differently than with individual tire pressure differences. In my experience it will detect low pressure if all wheels get to around 30-40% lower than their original baseline, which would be arou...

Re: Advice after hitting pothole that was not visible.
I had the exact same situation last year it was dark and I hit a pothole at 30 miles an hour and it was a very deep one. It was so bad that I was surprised the airbags didn’t pop because that’s how hard it felt. I got it checked out by a Volkswagen dealership because I was worried I’d damaged someth...

Re: New member looking for mpg advice
Make sure you both use the same fuel station so that the fuels in both cars are the same, and that rules out the possibility of a cheaper fuel used in yours and levels the playing field. I would also check the tyres and see if they are different. She may have more efficient tyres than what’s on your...

Re: Engine oil 504/507 instead of 508/509💲💲
I took my car for a service at a VW dealer and they used 0W-30 oil with the 504/507 spec! Guess my price worries were unfounded. Still, curious why the manual recommends the much pricier 508/509 for my 1.0TSI with GPF. FYI for anyone else in the same boat!

Re: Fuel consumption
The best I achieved is 67.1mpg today with my 1.0 TSI 110hp polo and that was mostly 55mph motorway from Cheltenham to London! Very good economical engine when it’s not driven hard.

Re: Engine oil 504/507 instead of 508/509💲💲
Thanks all for your advice and answers - I’ll stick with the 508/509 whilst I’m in warranty and the engine is still tight and then use the 504/507 when it’s a bit loose after the warranty period and should be good from there!

Engine oil 504/507 instead of 508/509💲💲
Hi everyone, I'm trying to choose engine oil for my Volkswagen Polo R-Line 1.0 TSI 110hp (with a gasoline particulate filter). The newer VW oil standard, 508/509, is much more expensive than the older standard, 504/507. Confusingly, the older Polo models with the same engine (without the gasoline pa...
