Air box seems A ok thanks.
Thanks for all the advise so far, i will make sure the correct sensor is replaced if needed. However this afternoon, I did have a play about with things and decided to disconnect the EGR. Car chucked out loads of carbon onto the drive, after 10 minutes of running it even ...

Re: Loss of power low mpg, after 20 miles of driving
The garage said it was running rich, i can confirm this as the exhuast tip is black has loads of soat on it, and the plugs were coated even after the short mileage.
In addition to the last post, one other things I have noticed is if I drive for 20 miles, the fault occurs, i stop let the car cool ...

Loss of power low mpg, after 20 miles of driving
Hi
Please can someone help shed some light on this, as I am now starting to feel throwing in the towell. I am having an ongoing issue where as its only noticeable when on longer journeys and motorway driving. The car appears fine, until I have driven 20-25 miles then all of a sudden the is a loss ...

Re: polo juddering again
I've forgotten what you did first time round in an earlier related posting/thread, but in my experience, the EGR valve does not get dirty on these petrol engines - it might fail for some reason, but mainly it is the port on the throttle body or the adaptor below the throttle body that gets clogged ...

polo juddering again
Some weeks back I posted here for some help with the running of my car.
Since owning the car I have done a massive array of work, and up till recently the car was running really well.
Basically on doing about 100 miles on the motorway, the loss of power returned, I have already changed the Coil ...

Re: new member
Hi john, How come your engine is knackered? Whats happening with it. I m also quite new to polos and have a 9N bby engine myself.
I had a lot of engine related issues, some of the most common problems for me was faulty coil packs and clogged up MAF and throttle body.
Hope we can be alittle more ...

Re: what to do to the polo next
Today has been a very bad day
No it didnt go in stright and true.
The brakes seemed ok for the first few days. After 50 miles I braved up going onto the M1 for just 2 junctions . After 5 miles, I started to loose power, the car felt like it was dragging and my friend in the passenger side heard ...

If you have never done Brakes before - do you have any friends who are experienced (and trustworthy/sensible) who could do the job with you and show you the correct/safe and proper procedures to safely replace all the parts ?Any job on a car can go badly wrong very quickly and experience gives you ...

Re: what to do to the polo next
To be honest I am alittle hesistant to fit the breaks and discs myself, dont want to feel stranded if something goes badly wrong. I know what I need to do, its just doing it. The motivation is that a well known garage wanted £450 for the front and rears, fitted, I think they are having biggest laugh ...

I've now had my car for almost 3 weeks. So far has been a bit of a rollercoaster learning about the car, common faults and fixing most of the Gremlins, she is bright red in really good condition body work and paint wise but I am looking to make her a project. Having had some free time I have spent ...

Re: New to polo's help help with engine gremlins
Well we traded in my wife’s Sept 2002 1.4 16V BBY petrol engine at 13 years and 105K miles and it was owned from new and never ever had its fuel filter changed!
I just never got round to changing it, VW Group do not suggest a change time/miles for these petrol filters.
As I was getting such ...

Thank you for the suggestion for the scan tool.
Fuel filter is now done. Head is absuluting still pounds from the smell of the fuel. Dispite purging the fuel beforehand.
This is what the old one looked like  Looks almost 3 years old.
