Changing driverside headlight/sidelight; 2001 tdi polo

Hello,
I need to change my driver side headlight and sidelight on my 2001 tdi 1.4 polo. But I cant get in behind the headlight to change it, I think I either need to move the air filter or the front bumper somehow, but I'm not sure which or how to go about doing it. I am not massively mechanical so ...
