Re: Anyone got there 1.0 tsi 95bhp remapped?

You will get a TD1 flag which means no power train warranty.

Re: New Gti / Gti +

^Steeve: Still running on the Bridgestones? Should've got rid ages ago. For the sake of £320 (minus what you'd get back for the Bridgestones) you're running a seriously compromised car. VWs decision to fit those is like UsainBolt being made to run in a pair of Dutch wooden clogs. The sad thing is, ...

Re: Alloy wheel scuff repair.

I've repaired wheels worst than that. Take the wheel off. Tape up the rim and tyre leaving the scuff and a bit more visible so that you dont mark any more of the rim, then with varying grades of wet and dry carefully sand away until the marks have gone, remove the tape and polish the rim with very f...

Re: New Gti / Gti +

We're just coming up to a year since we got our GTI+. Overall it's a great little car, very much in the spirit of the original Golf GTI. It's relatively small on the outside but plenty of room inside. Unlike the Mini's my wife used to prefer. Get the + if for nothing other than the very bright LED h...

Re: Induction kit

An induction kit will (unless there's other significant changes, like a larger turbo) that sits under the bonnet with no specific cold air feed (which is most of them) will reduce peformance. Under bonnet temperatures can be ten or more degrees hotter than than ambient. Modern cars have a more or le...

Re: Induction kit

I'm never sure why any one would fit an induction kit, other than for the noise. They actually reduce engine power by a significant percentage. The manufacturer goes to great lengths and expense to fit an intake that takes in cool air from ouside the engine bay. If it was better they'd go the cheape...

Re: Chiptuning a leased GTI

Our transmission failed out on the road with 2000 miles on the clock it would have been impossible to remove a tuning box. It had to be recovered. It would have been an expensive repair if we had had to pay. Why don't you just get a Golf GTi or R? Apart from which you do not own a lease car, should ...

Has any one had problems with Google Maps?

It's not just Google maps but every now and then our GTi plus refuses to connect with any iPhone. Bit annoying when you're some where distant and you need navigation. A (very) long press of the on off buuton generally sorts it. On odd occassions the radio has stayed on after the car is switched off ...

Re: GTI jerky brakes at low speed

I think it's something to do with the braking system. If it thinks youre braking in an emergency then it adds pressure into the system.
It does seem as though this triggers at low speeds, you just brake softly and the car adds that bit extra. Pants.............

Re: Ghost 2 immobiliser 2019 GTI+

Be wary of who fits a Ghost. There have been a number of Golf R and GTi owners that have had problems. They have not been able to start their cars. The installer has claimed it's a car problem but the Dealer won't touch it as it's been modified. It's also easy to forget the sequence of button/switch...

Re: Epic fail......

I worked for a major vehicle manufacturer for almost 40 years, almost all of that time in quality control, supplier development and laterly as a senior service engineer I was the technical worldwide SME for the product I worked on, so I'm very aware of failure rates etc etc. But it still doesnt help...

We are hoping that the new S1 when it comes out will have a manual option as we no longer have faith in the reliability of the DSG transmission.

Re: Epic fail......

Two weeks to the day and the car has been returned, hopefully fixed. Though we both have a feeling that we are unable to trust the reliability.
