Re: Seat belt adjuster rattle

My 2019 GTi does it intermittently, mentioned it when I took it in for it's first service, of course hadn't been doing it while driving it there that day and didn't do it for the service techs when they checked. Of course as I turned in to my road after picking it up it started doing it again!!

Re: Just booked my car in for it's first service.........

My experience of VW and their dealers has not been great so far tbh, I had much better service from the SEAT, Fiat, Mazda, Vauxhall (mostly....), Citroen, BMW and Toyota dealers I have dealt with previously. Can't help but think that the UK's VW dealers being mostly swallowed up by the one large dea...

Re: Just booked my car in for it's first service.........

No idea what's going on with the service indicator here in the UK, maybe it's configured differently for the UK for some reason? All service indicators are set to long life from the factory. Cro_vw's reference to the "0 service" is what we in the UK refer to as the Pre-delivery inspection...

Re: Polo GTI colours

I agree with what others have said already, the colour choices for the GTi are very limited, SEAT offer much nicer colours on their sporty models (Mystery Blue and Desire Red for example) and you don't pay extra for metallic either! As my last car was black I wasn't doing that again, I wanted either...

Just booked my car in for it's first service.........

"Is there anything you want us to look at sir?" "Well seems as you asked, there is the shudder the car does when on the motorway when putting power back on after slowing down, esp between 60-70mph and most noticeable when using the ACC, the loud and unpleasant high pitched whining noi...

Re: How to look after your car during lockdown

Yes, exactly what I said I was going to do, in fact have now done - GPF regeneration can only be performed in “non power” conditions, meaning that regeneration is normally achieved under deceleration. Deceleration increases the amount of oxygen following through the engine and exhaust system.

Re: How to look after your car during lockdown

My biggest concern is the GPF on mine, all it's being used for is a run to the supermarket once a week (if that) and while the coolant and oil are getting up to temp it's not enough to clear the GPF. We are mostly using our newly acquired 2012 Swift Sport for our shopping runs(bought as a temp 2nd c...

Re: External Exhaust Sound

I use the same (ish) technique I used in my Abarth 500 (though obviously with much less satisfying results cos the Abarth was MUCH louder due to only having a cat and then a straight thru pipe to the single back box with no middle box from the factory!). Boot it in second (with the DSG in manual) an...

Re: Front Assist: No sensor view

Mine did this once months ago. Got into it after work (was parked nose in to a space facing a wall) and the error came up as soon as I started it. Switched it of and checked the sensor was clean etc, no impact marks on it, got back in the car and it was still there. Drove about a mile to the superma...

Re: Quick question about oil service

Mines doing the same thing, it's not due it's first service until June, I'm just ignoring it!

Edit - Forgot to say the date the car thinks it's service is due does correspond with the date I got the car built\left the factory notification from VW.

Re: Anyone had forced GPF regens yet?

I am sure I am in forced regen on my 1.0tsi 95hp polo. Started 3 weeks ago with about 7200kms on the clock. I do mostly short town trips but still have been getting over 60mpg (average for full 7200kms) until now. Regen is still active ! I have done more than 500 miles in this condition. Fuel consu...

Re: Anyone had forced GPF regens yet?

Just hit 4k miles on mine. 9 mile stop start traffic each way, 5 days a week. Not noticed a forced regen yet, but I'm probably due one soon I imagine ? I do take it out for an hour every other weekend just for a bit of fun, so maybe this has helped with a bit of passive regen Sent from my SM-N9750 ...

Re: Anyone had forced GPF regens yet?

^ 27mpg from 40mpg when doing a regen? That proportionality fits in with my wife's 20mpg from 30. I just don't get how a forced regen could be that thirsty. Diesel forced regens hit your fuel economy by 10%, not 33%. I'm trying to imagine a third of a gallon of petrol being ignited in the exhaust e...
