Re: GTI engine remap/tuning box
270 HP, 450 Nm. DSG also remapped (shorter shifting time, later shifting in D, earlier in S). Great improvement (see attachments). In stock version, nothing much happens after 4000 rpm. Now it keeps going; 100-200 time goes down from 20+ to 14,5 sec The 0-100 measurement was from another similar rem...

Re: Exhaust valve and aftermarket exhaust
How pliable the human mind; soon a Milltek non resonated catback exhaust system will be fitted on my pre GPF GTI. I realised that the sound in all those videos on the net is generated by high revving and/or driving in S. While the sound when driving "normal" is fine, as is the sound from i...

Re: GTI and GTI plus owners experiences
I could recommend a remap of engine and DSG. Not only with regard to your point, but most importantly because nothing much happens beyond 4000 rpm, whereas it keeps going when remapped.

Re: Exhaust valve and aftermarket exhaust
For me a res delete sounds way too loud. Mine is pre GPF and with the DSG in S, the sound is pretty nice with modest pops and bangs. I agree the DSG in S keeps revving too long, but mine is adapted, so it gears up sooner in S and later in D. So the driveability in S is ok, although I seldom do it. J...

Re: How hard do you drive your GTI?
I would recommend a DSG remap. My D is perfect now, shifts up just a little later (and faster). No need whatsoever anymore to put it in S or shift manually.

Re: How hard do you drive your GTI?
Car is set in Individual with everything in Sport except sound, suspension and DSG. Remapped (270 HP/440 Nm). I drive it gently most of the time. I press the pedal on acceleration lanes, sometimes when overtaking and when the highway gets clear after some hold up. A few times a year I have some fun ...

Re: Let’s do a dyno run in a GTi
As there is no like-button here, @monkeyhanger, thanks for the positive reaction. The company in question is very experienced in remapping VAG cars with an outstanding reputation. They know what they're doing. They are keen at keeping within safe limits.

Re: Let’s do a dyno run in a GTi
The most substantial difference is that it keeps on going much longer. Indicative of this is a much better 100-200 result; 14,5 sec instead of 20+

Re: Let’s do a dyno run in a GTi
It could have been mapped on 95 also of course. And the difference in power is not that exciting (some 5 to 10 HP). But remapped it also runs smoother on 98. In case of stock I would keep it on 95 I guess

Re: Let’s do a dyno run in a GTi
Hardly worth doing, it seems to me (272 HP/440 Nm)

Re: New Gti / Gti +
Coming from a Skoda Fabia 1.0 with lowered suspension and chiptuning, I am absolutely content with the GTI +. Bought it with 23000 km (ex company car). I have not a single complaint. It's more comfortable, even in Sport, than the Fabia with lowered suspension. I have mine chiptuned and with the extr...

Re: Chip tuning and servicing
Calculated risk indeed; still very small compared to the risk of getting involved in an accident. So far so good for me up 'till now. Driving my fourth chipped VAG car without having had any problem at all. But that's just as anecdotical evidence and as such of no relevance for risk assessing purpos...

Re: Chip tuning and servicing
I have always, with 4 cars now, been transparant about it and my dealer won't stand in the way with no reason. In case i.e. the turbo crashes, it will be different because the importer will be involved. The odds of such a thing happening however are very low, when you drive the car properly and tuni...
