Re: Blocked heater core due to silica bag burst
Fight it all the way. Dave Sterl has a decent video on his YouTube channel. I fished out the silica bag as soon asI saw it. The entire cooling system will need to be checked and flushed. Even then, I’d be wary.

Just venting!
So, got up early, I’m not feeling great as been dealing with shingles and my vision is screwed in one eye for a couple of weeks. Anyway, oil change on the Polo 1.4 TDI as part of a full service. Could hardly feel my fingers as it was around 2 degrees. Used the correct filter housing tool, which just...

Re: Hand brake sticks on when lever is depressed
Drums are the devil’s work. If they are sticking, as mentioned, could be leaking brake cylinder. As they get higher mileage 100k+ then the drum lining is reduced through wear and tear. You can adjust all you like but easier just to replace the drum. I’ve also witnessed pad material detaching from th...

Worth having a look at the ARB links.

Re: Adjusting Polo LED headlight range
Sorry about the delay in coming back about this. I blame work commitments. You need a long shaft cross head screwdriver to do it. It was around 4.30pm, and I live north of the wall, in November, so getting dark. I added tape on the garage door with the lights on so I could see the difference. I adde...

Re: Front bearing
My experiences.
1/ Do prep work the day prior to fitting the new bearing, otherwise you’ll need a new ABS sensor
2/ Fit FAG bearing
3/ Conclusion: OEM bearings from factory fail prematurely, in my case at 40k miles.

Re: Adjusting Polo LED headlight range
Thanks for the replies. Does anyone have access to instructions for adjusting the headlights, if it is a manual process, such as adjusting grub screws on each side. Obviously I’ll remember turns, as surprisingly the car is passing MOTs with no advisories in lighting.

Re: Adjusting Polo LED headlight range
I’ve not changed the suspension, it’s running on stock springs. I was so concerned about rear ride height but VW confirmed colour code for springs.

Re: Adjusting Polo LED headlight range
As all cars that came from the factory with LED headlights do have a built in automatic headlight levelling system, I would have hoped that if the rear is a bit higher than it should be, then the system would correct this - but I'd doubt it. Interesting. I have an A4 Allroad that had a broken coil ...

Adjusting Polo LED headlight range
Looking for advice please if anyone has access to workshop manuals for a 2015 plate Polo 1.4 diesel BlueMotion. I posted a thread about rear springs here: https://uk-polos.net/viewtopic.php?t=76967 This is relevant, as I was convinced, and still am that the ride height at the rear was too high effec...

Re: Vw polo 62 plate help please ?
Not used this site myself and is pay to view, but looks comprehensive. Check them out for reviews before you part with cash. Only $15. https://portal-diagnostov.com/ The rear light clusters are known to fail with water ingress so just check the connector where the loom connects is dry with no rust s...

Re: Front Pads and Disc 2016 GTI Torque settings
You can test by driving for a few miles then coasting to a stop. Brakes may be warm, but not hot.
Not convinced with main dealer, they may have done a visual inspection, but you need to dismantle to really see what’s going on. The pads should move in the carrier with no friction.

Re: Front Pads and Disc 2016 GTI Torque settings
Pads shouldn’t be tight. Brakes will work, but down the line you are going to have problems with heat. Tear it down again. My money is on corrosion on the carrier. Remove the brake carrier and use a copper wire wheel brush on a drill and clean it. You can even use a metal file on the recess where th...

Re: DAB Radio Issue
Slight update. Clearing the errors and recharging the air-conditioning has helped, so start-stop back running. Also tried DAB radio - so I do get a signal. I'm sure the error is still there - I just want to interpret what it is and how it can be cleared.

Re: DAB Radio Issue
Hopefully not resurrecting an old thread for the hell of it, but have had this fault for a while. I cleared the car error codes tonight. The car air conditioning pressure was too low, so I’ve topped up with refrigerant and put a can of stop leak through it, so that cleared. Possibly related, is the ...
