Do you know the code for the gearbox? I think I may have a DCC box somewhere.

Re: AFH Wiring diagram

Hi All So I found an amazingly useful website, no fees, no credit cards etc. Polo wiring diagrams: https://cardiagn.com/vw-polo-1995-2002-electrical-system/ and the index (loads of great information) https://cardiagn.com/volkswagen-polo-1995-2002-workshop-manuals-wiring-diagrams/ Hope that helps for...

AFH Wiring diagram

Hey Everyone Hope lockdown is treating you as well as can be expected. Does anyone have an AFH wiring diagram or even just the ABS system loom wiring? - I need it to test the wheel speed sensors - seems nigh on impossible to locate on the interweb. I would be eternally grateful and even send cider t...

Re: Constantly cutting out! 1.4 cl v reg

The engine coolant sensor could well be the problem if you've cleaned out the throttle body etc. A new one is less than a tenner and can be fitted inside 20 mins, so I'dl be inclined simply to replace it and see how you get on. Main problem is extra fuelling whilst cold is not needed when warm, but ...

Request: Door stuck shut! please help!!

Hey everyone, Completely random annoying thing happened today - car on gentle slope and I get out, so door shuts itself and of course the wonderful VW seatbelt inertial reels have lost any ability they once had to pull the seatbelt tight, so the belt gets stuck in the door. This has happened before ...

Re: High fuel consumption and strange idle

Hello Alex, and thanks for the reply. The sparks are new, about 3000 miles old, as are the HT Leads. THe dizzy cap is a replacement from a 1.4CL as the original (and breaker arm) seemed a bit burnt out (ie not new, but workign fine on the other car at time of donation). I will look at getting a new ...

High fuel consumption and strange idle

Hi All, I hope all's well during harvest! I have a 1.4 16v AFH polo '99, and was suffering high fuel consumption and strange hunting idling between 1400-1600rpm if I put the clutch down from higher revs, ie coasting down a steep hill, but if I dipped the clutch having taken it down braking to ~1000 ...

Re: Polo 6n AHF testing the waters

I have a piece of string that you can tell me the length of once you’ve got the answer to your question Ryan! :o But seriously, what’s the mileage, what have you done to it/not done to it, and when was it last used regularly. How much rust is in all the usual places and does the clutch/gearbox/cambe...

Re: ABS light on: fault 01276 ABS Hydraulic Pump

Morning all. So I've had the control unit off, it's got part number 1J0 907 379G which is not quite what it should be I think. Hard to know. Reason it's causing problems now is that there are sleeves through the plastic casing where the studs go to hold the ECU onto the ABS manifold. These sleeves h...

Removing the boot trim

Hi All 99 polo 6n 16v Anyone know how to get the internal boot plastic trim off? There are two screws, and the plastic trim forming the edge of the parcel shelf is easy enough to remove from above, but there remain three black plastic 'grommet' like disks which don't seem to react to screwdriving/he...

Re: 1999 1.4CL Auto Car seems to be over revving.

One syptom of automatic boxes being short of their hydraulic transmission fluid (note this is distinct from lubricating oil) is that they excessively rev and fail to change gear at lower revs.
I'd change, or at the very least, top up the automatic transmission fluid in the auto box.

Hi Everyone Thanks for the tips - I have taken a look at your DIY guide Alex (https://uk-polos.net/viewtopic.php?t=58585) and it looks the business. I'm handy with a soldering iron so I'll keep you informed how I get on. And before I start, I'll have a quick look at the battery connections, just in ...

ABS light on: fault 01276 ABS Hydraulic Pump

Hello, I wonder if any of you have had this problem: My 1999 6n 16V AFH has developed fault code 01276 after having the clutch changed. According to the computer (a "Foxwell") it's the 01276 ABS Hydraulic pump (V64) Sporadic - Signal outside tolerance. Perhaps it's a loose connection or si...

Valver on the loose - brought back from the dead.

Hello everyone, I recently acquired a 1999 6n 1.4 16v 100hp polo, with AFH engine. 76k miles seemingly genuine. THanks to your excellent resource (and others too on the internet) I was able to turn a very ill car into one that is already showing signs of promise. Of course the engine was warm when I...
