It's gone now, worst car I've ever had. Spent a lot of time at the dealers who tried a number of times to sort the gearbox, which was had jerky gear changes especially changing down 3 to 2 and 2 to 1. At one point I thought they'd sorted it but the problem quickly came back.

Just been speaking to the local dealer. Apparently the reason that the GTI has been temporarily withdrawn from sale is that VW have ran out of squeaks, rattles for the dashboard, rattling handbrakes, noisy rear brakes, juddery wipers, crap gearboxes and scratchy plastics. In addition due to COVID 19 ...

Sounds about right for these days, spend 20 odd thousand on a new car then have to spend another 30 quid to get quiet wipers. Wonder how many pence per car VW saved by fitting the rubbish ones?

When the Corsa C first came out Vauxhall fitted new wipers for anyone that complained about juddering.

Here's a few things you can expect :cry:

Crap downshifting, especially 3 to 2.
Rattle from the handbrake.
Squealling brakes when reversing.
When the engine's cold, crap drivability for the first half a mile or so.
Not being able to tell whether the auto headlights are on or off.
Windscreen wiper ...

Just a quick update.

Car's been in today. At the request of VW, the dealer checked the gearbox oil level (was OK) carried out a basic setting of the mechatronics unit and an adaptation test drive. The car now drives OK, fingers crossed.

The car's been in again, VW has said that the gearbox needs resetting, it's waiting to go in to have it done.
