Thanks for your reply.
It sounds like I need to treat them all as separate issues.
I’m going there tomorrow so hopefully I can figure it out.

Cheap wheels to fit Polo 9n
Hi,
My daughter has a 2004 Polo 1.2 Twist with 14" alloys. She thought she had a puncture but the garage advised it is corrosion around the wheel bead causing it and the other wheels are going the same way.
She can't be without the car while i fix the wheels so i'm looking for a cheap set to ...

2004 polo 1.2 clutch replacement
Is it easy to replace a clutch in the 3 cylinder 1.2 petrol AZQ engine?
I’ve got the tools and skills to do most jobs and in the past have rebuilt engines on rear wheel drive cars, but haven’t done much with front wheel drive. Can I change a clutch on these cars on a driveway? Will I need an engine ...

Wheel squeak
Hi All,
I'm getting a squeak from my front wheel which i'm certain is the rusty brake back plate rubbing on the disc. While checking i found that what looks like a seal on the back of the wheel bearing spins freely. See photo. It doesn't turn on the other wheel.
Will it cause a problem?

Radiator water leak
Hi,
My 2004 1.2 petrol has been using a bit of water for a long time. Today I noticed a small puddle under it so investigated.
There is a switch on the side of the radiator that is wet and is obviously the source of the leak. My question is …
Is it most likely something simple like the switch or it ...

No I didn’t have the throttle open, I forgot you’re meant to do that.
Maybe I should test them again and with the engine warm.

Re: Diagnosing a failed head gasket
I did some more checks.
Compressions tests cold were 145,145,145,130
I added some oil and repeated 160,160,160,135
These are within spec (just) based on minimum specified values for my engine but the difference between 4 and the other cylinders is significant.
Then i bought a home die test kit which ...

Diagnosing a failed head gasket
Hi All,
I bought a car recently that had it's head gasket replaced not long before i bought it, it's done 1700 miles since then and i think it has failed again. The garage that did the work has agreed to repair it under warranty if it is the head gasket, my problem is they aren't local and i will ...

Re: Engine replacement
I’ve just been outside studying it and there is no way on this 4 cylinder engine that there is enough space for it to separate from the gearbox in the car and the Haynes manual says bring the engine and gearbox out complete.

Re: Engine replacement
When my wife comes home I hear the knock before the engine. It’s definitely not tappets because it gets louder under load.
It needs a clutch so I have to decide whether to spend the money on that or not, I can use it with a knock but not without a clutch.
Today I’m leaning towards selling it on ...

Hi guys,
My 2004 1.4 petrol has a significant engine piston knock, I’ve lived with it for 3 years and 15,000 miles but now it needs a clutch. The car has only done 45,000 miles and has no rust and a great interior so I want to save it.

Swapping door locks
Hi,
I have a 5 door, 2004 polo twist with central locking but not remote central locking.
Can I swap the worn out drivers door lock barrel with the one from the passenger door? Or maybe the boot?
I’ve read that’s it’s possible in the 9n3 but can’t get confirmation it’s possible on a 9n.
Thanks

Re: Air con not working right? Replace the V68 motor - HOW TO.
Mine is 2004.
I found some Hella motors and other brands on car parts websites using that part number but there was a mix of square and oval plugs shown in the pictures. They all said the part was compatible with my car.

I'm having trouble identifying the correct part for my cars V68 motor, i got it wrong twice before and hope to get it right this time. My car is a 2004 1.2 12V with climatic control. The VIN number is 9NZ4Y039613
