I've not been around - and now she's gone :(

Well I've been on the forums for a while (in the most part due to me forgetting my password and never having the sense to change it) but alas now I have no polo :(

Never thought I would ...

Changes in the ECU which can among other things change fuel/ignition timings and give you slightly increased boost from your turbo (if you have one)

Can be done to any car but the gains are usually greatest on something that's had other mods and/or forced induction

Get stronger bearings put in that are rated for higher loads?

At least do the ones that fail most commonly any way.

Having said that, uprating those might just mean the next thing along will fail. s**t design tbh

If you paint them red I will hunt you down and murder you, just a kind thought :)

Hammerite them black if they are rusty or don't bother

Make sure you get that bumper to match.

You could do what Dan Krebs did, buy a second one, butcher it and use the plastic from it to make the extra you need.

40mm isn't slammed, and they will be ok, for a while.

They will start to leak eventually though. You can get kits (inc shocks) really cheap from PhillJ so you might as well do it properly ;)

Wheel spins, especially whilst turning will soon ruin any mk4/5 box quickly.

I had about 4.5K on my box from when it started whining till when it finally let go
