Re: Check oil level warning not switching off after adding oil
Thanks all. My daughter never seems to be at home for me to actually spend some time with the car! She’s off on holiday next week with her pals so I’ll have the car for a week. Will report back.

Re: Check oil level warning not switching off after adding oil
It’s the message on the info display that says “check oil level” under the image of an oil can. The oil level was at the low end of the stick.

Check oil level warning not switching off after adding oil
It’s almost a year since my daughters Polo was serviced at the main dealer and the next service we want to delay a few months to coincide with the MoT. The Check Oil Level light appeared. The oil was at the bottom of the dipstick so I added a litre of oil and the reading is now at the upper level of...

Re: VW Extended warranty cover
I would not buy the extended warranty again. My daughter bought 66 plate polo earlier this year and I paid for the named component cover with zero excess. The car went in for a minor service a few months ago and the dealer said there was an error code (one of the misfire types). I mentioned the warr...

Re: Error: Start-Stop system
We purchased an AGM replacement from Halfords and they fitted it and coded it for a nominal sum. It was something like £140 all in? Five year guarantee. We had issues with multiple cylinders misfires and the new battery fixed it. The car had a poor performing battery in it when we bought it.. and it...

Re: Error: Start-Stop system
Could be the battery performance. If the battery isn’t tip top it can cause the stop start not to function... in most cars.

Re: Borbet, Spokane, Tosa Alloys... difference?
Thanks. I’m going to go and look at the Borbet link I posted above because that looks correct and in the best condition (will match her other lightly scratched alloys!). The one I really need to replace is actually damaged (bent and cracked) and I’ve asked her not to drive the car. :D Kids... we wer...

Re: Borbet, Spokane, Tosa Alloys... difference?
Thank you! It’s the Stratford design in your pictures but I see the same design described as Borbet and Spokane. Maybe they are the manufacturer? Here are some examples:- Borbet https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Polo-Alloy-Wheel-Tyre/293562269797?hash=item4459acc065:g:G5AAAOSw161eqC8o Spokane https://ww...

Re: Borbet, Spokane, Tosa Alloys... difference?
The more I look around the more confused I’m getting as I can see different designs of Borbet and Tosa!
Pretty sure she has the Spokane.

Borbet, Spokane, Tosa Alloys... difference?
Hi, Daughters car has a few badly kerbed alloys so I was looking at EBay to find possible economic replacements (without cracks or welds) but I’m not sure exactly which type she has on her 2016/66 Match (185/60/15 tyres). They all look the same to me in the pictures! I’m assuming (possibly incorrect...

Re: Servicing / timing belt cost -2015 1.2 TSI
Er... isn’t that what we already know? The point is that VW AG (Germany) say it’s a lifetime part. VW UK say 5 years. RUM does explain that in his reply above.
Quite a lot on Google about this topic... with both opinions expressed.

Thanks, interesting and informative. Is this the same for the 1.0 engine too as I have read the same thing.

Re: Servicing / timing belt cost -2015 1.2 TSI
I think there are lots of things that could potentially break (gearbox etc) out of warranty but are unlikely. Personally I think a car with 20k miles on it is too early for a timing belt change even after 5 years. Especially when VAG AG do not agree with VW UK. Also £672 for a polo service at an Ind...
