Re: Polo AW Facelift Spy shots
The mk8 Golf (or at least some models of the mk8 Golf) has a full width LED strip that runs across the top of the grille between the headlamps. I personally think it looks tacky and gimmicky. I can remember seeing a particular make / model of car in the 1980’s and 1990’s in the USA with full width ...

Just stupidly bright, there's really no need for it and it's time the authorities put a limit to it.

And here is the German website Autobild's take on the facelift: https://www.autobild.de/artikel/vw-polo-facelift-2021-erlkoenig-preis-marktstart-18438345.html Not sure im sold on this: "an LED strip connects the daytime running lights of the headlights" The mk8 Golf (or at least some models of the ...

Re: Polo AW Facelift Spy shots
I have seen a few articles online. This sideshot is my favourite. The driver appears to not be a fan of the camera men  That looks hardly different from the current model, in fact the wheels seem worse with that spoke design and the bolt holes integrated giving the appearance of a cheap wheel ...

Re: Loud tyre noise front wheel
I'm of an age where I remember 'Paddy Hopkirk' selling stick on sound deadening for your car. When only luxury cars had it but you wanted it in your Avenger/Escort/Cortina. :) Paddy Hopkirk! That takes me back, loads of stuff in car accessory shops - all long gone. Most of it unnecessary but it mad...

A legacy from when garages were built for Minis and Vauxhall Vivas... Are more modern garages any better? Our house was built around 2000, the length is fine but the width is shocking and even getting out of our daughter's Fiat 500 was difficult. It reminds me of an aunt who built an extension to b...

Cheers thanks for the replies. It might just be my imagination, often you do imagine some things with cars but they are all slightly different - I noticed on this 2020 model slight differences to the 2018 spec. One being they have deleted the twin horns and replaced with a weedy single tone  ...

Re: Long Term Ownership.
I've yet to see an electric car that I liked except for the Model S / 3. Hopefully they look better in the future. Shows you how tastes differ, the M3 reminds me of a 1990s Chrysler Neon and I wouldn't have one because of it. Spot on! Good old Neon, I think they were all 3 speed auto? Some of the m...

Re: SEL 1.0 TSI 95PS or 110PS?
THIS is what I'm talking about, at the front it's literally one inch to disaster, and yes, I DO have to breath in. Garage mods include: (unseen) strips of carpet glued to right side and end walls, bubble wrapped wrapped (!) on inside of up 'n' over door in case I let hatch open fully and (can be se...

Re: Long Term Ownership.
I've had electric before and really wanted to go electric again this time. But a combination of things, mostly involving daft workload due to covid, made me jump at an easy offer on the Gti from the dealer. I'm regretting it now, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. But it will, absolutely 100%, be ...

Re: Long Term Ownership.
This is probably the last few years of ICE cars as hybrids and full electric gradually take over so why not enjoy the end of the line and characteristics of a petrol engine whilst it is around? In ten years I expect the infrastructure and cars on offer to be more widely developed and mainstream, pet...

Re: SEL 1.0 TSI 95PS or 110PS?
I would go for the 110ps not worth the hassle of gambling on the 95 and finding it falls short. Little difference in economy, especially if you have to drive the 95ps one harder to compensate. Economy generally good as long as you drive gently, plenty of turbo use gets through petrol and MPG drops f...

Loud tyre noise front wheel
Hi Recently replaced the 2018 SE with a 2020 Match 95ps. It is fitted with standard 15 inch wheels, Goodyear Efficient Grip tyres. I've noticed there is lots of tyre roar on the motorway coming from the passenger side, it changes depending on the type of road surface. Very noisy, didn't notice this ...
