Re: Tyre pressure warning(?)

It is not a perfect system. I have had odd alerts and checked the tyres with no obvious loss. Also a slow puncture which didn't show up. Best to keep checking the pressures manually. It's ok probably to show a rapid deflation, you would probably spot this from the car itself driving strangely. Good ...

Does anyone know please what the ‘1’ is on top right of the photo from my Infotainment screen from my Polo gti facelift?
Is this related to the radio station presents? Eg station number 1?

Lurching from standstill - engine mounts

Hi Got a 23 plate 1.0 Life, 3rd Polo since 2018 so used to how they normally drive. Noticed that it's very hard to set off smoothly in first gear, after releasing the clutch there is a lurch which feels like the engine moving. Only way to avoid it is to hold the clutch and release it very very slowl...

2023 Life - observations

Swapped my 2020 Match for a 2023 Life TSI recently. Noticed a couple of differences - gear knob feels bulky and cheap, much preferred the small round leather version. The indicator tick tock noise seems much louder and cheap, no way of changing this. Engine a bit hesitant, might free up with age and...

Re: Help with buying 2018 Polo (service question)

Check alloys for scrapes.
Front brake disc and pads can be worn at that mileage needing replacing, they can also warp and you feel a pulsing sensation when braking at low speeds.
Check the handbrake works properly, the cables can seize up at that age and there was a recall to replace the mechanism.

Re: I want to change wheels and tyres 2020 R-Line

You would need 15 inch wheels with 185/65 R 15 tyres as fitted to Polo SE , Match, Life models. I would expect a marginal improvement in ride quality, more cushioned. I had a 2018 model with the 16 inch alloys and 195/55 tyres and it felt harsh, swapped to 2020 Match with 15 inch and reduced pressur...

Re: Brake upgrade

It would have been easier to buy a GTI in the first place, all the cost and complication involved. Will end up like Trigger's broom.

Will the cooling system be up to the extra heat and need upgrading as well?

It will be interesting if people still crave the 'performance' image and experience that current ICE cars deliver This is an interesting point. IMO, this craving will die off with 'our' generation. As a dad of a couple of teenagers, and friendly with loads of other parents in the same boat, the apa...

Re: VW Update Plans

Some good points. I think give it another 5 years things will be tipping the balance towards EV if cost come down and charging infrastructure improves. Currently they are a novelty with severe limitations on long distance travelling. ICE cars do seem very crude, essentially the same idea of burning...

Re: VW Update Plans

EVs at current prices only make any sense if you can make fuel savings to cancel out the high price of the car itself. I'm not interested in buying, I will only ever lease/PCP until I pop my clogs. From that point of view, electric cars are either no dearer at all or barely any dearer. I could easi...

Re: Base Model Alloy Wheels Upgrade

I would try Ebay, lots come up and it's the most common option now for buying wheels. A decent set of 16 would be an improvement on the awful 15 inch standard wheels - like the ones fitted to SEL or Beats, R Line? There is a lot you can do to upgrade the look using tints, trim off GTI and such like ...

To complete the thread.... Here she is, 110 version. Didnt get the colour I wanted but very happy with what has turned up on my driveway today. Didn't get a spare wheel tho! Thought they came as standard? Thanks for help everyone. Lee. Nice looking, seems you have the 16 inch las minas wheels? Suit...
