From my experience the Valeo items are the lightest

A new clutch and cable will make the pedal softer

I find VAG-COM to be excellent, and Uwe actually bases his software on the 5052, by taking it apart and analysing it.

The only place where the 5052 excels IMO is guided fault finding.

The Polo doesn't have (46) Central Convenience Module, so it'll be interesting to see if it works. Also do both ...

IMO ELSA assumes you have basic knowledge, whereas Autodata is for the total newbie!

But I thought this thread was for a GTI operating temperature! ;)

Yep the green one is the new one for replacing all the old type of 4 pin sensors

Yeah I suppose if you get the carriers 2nd hand or whatever then it could make sense.

I reckon its only really beneficial if like you say your original discs are shot. No point in doing them if they're like new IMHO!

How easy is it to find a G60 in the breakers yard, or a Passat with 280mm brakes?

Yep a good make double sided tape, i.e. Wurth will be a total bastid to remove the plate. Will not come off easy!

We prep new cars for a company, and always double side them wherever possible.

Hate dealers/people who drill into fresh new bumpers, number plate holders!

The GTI? I've always only seen the black ones on these, which then get superceeded to the green type (059 919 501A)

A very common sensor, which is also used on many other Audi's, Golf's, etc

Yeh true, but is that enough for a great improvement over stock?

Cross sectional area will make a difference, hence why i asked the Q of the different pads.

I thought the G60 uses a different pad, hence why the new carrier (also for the larger disc i guess). Strange!

I would have thought the G60 ...

Maybe my wording wasn't right, but its the original "Black" sensors which are troublesome.

Never seen a brown sensor myself :?

Yep more than likely a temp sensor problem.

Probably the troublesome 4 pin green type!

Most late VAG cars, i.e. around 1999-> should sit virtually dead on 90

The stock GTI discs are 25mm thick whereas the 280mm are 22mm IIRC.

Usually a thicker disc helps to disipate heat better, and also doesn't warp as easily.

Has anyone measured the pad surface area of a stock GTI pad, and the G60 pad?

I would have thought the 280mm upgrade is negligable ...

the BCB engine code and 1.8T throttle bodies are different.

I could maybe see the BCB one fitting, but not the 1.8T

Anyone with ETKA on here should be able to get the part number for the BCB item

Looking good bro! Fuk1n hell you had some spare time...hahaha!!

The boot handle, is from the Golf Mk5, and basically kills two birds with one stone; acts as a VW badge, and also operates to open the boot via solenoid. We don't like totally smoothed bootlids!

The seals on the gearbox side should be visible as you look at the shaft where the clutch will slide on to (splines)

And the crank seal should be visible looking at the engine
