I dont understand how you have so many engine problems, Mine just takes so much abuse all the time and it just loves it...

Anyways first dibs on some parts when you tare ye old mk2 apart, mainly the gearbox/anti-roll bar/linkage... :D

I really like that look of this, i personally wouldn't bother with a respray or the big bumpers spend the money on something more cool, but its your car and your money

Thanks for your help hypojam but i think i didn't explain very well :oops At the end of the air filter housing there is a air temp sensor which cold air travels to the carb but there is a flap which governs this,the flap is operated by a pipe which is attached, but where the other end goes i don't ...

There's a vacuum tube on the base of the carb, almost directly underneath the air filter temp sensor

Mines a 1.3 with Weber carb / GK inlet manifold, fitted to a 3+E gearbox.

Mine averages 30mpg town stop start

but when you give it stick all the time it goes as low as 23-26 mpg

motorway journey with 50% abuse it got 38mpg

i reckon if you go easy on it, it will hit 45mpg easy enough.
