Bye Bye GTi

Car has just been sold after 4 years of happy (mostly) ownership, did feel sad when I saw it drive off.
It's being replacad in a couple of weeks with a new Focus Zetec climate, boring I know, but I'm old and my priorities have changed!
Will definately miss the little GTi though.

Creaking noise

My GTi has started making a creaking noise from the clutch pedal, it's only for the last few inches of travel, anyone have any ideas what it could be? I'm thinking it might be the pedal box, but a mechanic mate reckons it's probably the clutch itself, if it is I'm gonna get a sachs one, anyone have ...

Yeah, thats what I did, no lacquer, just gonna polish them regularly. I bedded the centres in with gasket sealant to try to stop water getting in between the rim and centre, hopefully this will stop the corrosion inside.

Might get a set of G60 steels before winter sets in.

I had a sunny garden to do mine in, and I'm a professional decorator, so all that sanding is kinda natural to me!

:D Not every grade, 240, 400, 600, 800, 1200, lots of grades makes it easier and gives a better finish IMO!
Split two wheels, took them to get tyres taken off, stripped them, and polished them in about 4 Hrs!

2 Down, 2 to Go!

Started to refurb my wheels today, took some serious sanding, as they were pretty bad, but they're looking good now, gonna do the other 2 on Saturday. BTW, they were done with wet and dry grades from 240 down to 1200 followed by a polish with Autosol. Centres were T-cut and waxed as they were nearly...

New catalytic converter.

I need a new catalytic converter for my GTi, as the flexible joint has split right open and the internals of the cat have started to rattle and it's driving me mad. Went to VW at the weekend to get a quote, It was over £700 for supply only, minus a £125 surcharge you get back when you return your ...

My rear brakes used to make loads of noise when I first got the car, had new calipers fitted under warranty as VW said they were seizing, but the noise remained, so changed discs and pads and the rear pads were worn really unevenly, with the new ones fitted the noise disappeared and has been fine si...

Looking good, just like mine  I've put mine back to nearly standard lately, took off my smoked led rear lights and my black sunstrip, mainly because I got bored! I've got a powerflow cat back too, but mine has a 3" Audi TT style tailpipe, I'm thinking of taking that off too and getting a ...

I've had alloy wheels damaged in the past by Tyre fitters, most of them don't care if the wheels are not brand new. ^^Si- when you have your tyres fitted I'd still make a point of asking them to be careful, that's what I do now, as the outer rims of the BBS are quite soft and are easily damaged by a...
