Re: 6C GTI Entry level mods

Hi

I'm on the other side of the fence and have modded the crap out of mine.

i've had it over 5 years now and have modded/changed most parts of the car.

would say be very careful doing any sort of mapping on the dsg as it not the best dsg box. A company called TVS do a setting change to help ...

Re: Polo newbie - please help

Update - I've now got a nice little 3dr 6c with the dsg box. Reliability is a bit of a concern but I have a 3 year gold RAC warranty which I'm hoping is worth its 500 quid premium if the dsg ever goes bang.

Its got every option I can think of, sunroof, heated seats, cruise control, performance ...

6C GTI Entry level mods

I've just got a 6c GTI (may have seen my previous posts before buying one) and a absolutely love it.

I've fitted a custom cat back exhaust which sounds great, bit of drone at low rpms so I'm taking it back next month to get that sorted, but otherwise I love the little thing.

I'm already tempted ...

Re: Polo newbie - please help

Great to know, cheers mate!

I'm going for nav, heated seats and a sunroof myself. I think it looks much nicer than the 135 albeit a bit less aggressive.

I agree with the fun part. My 135i is good fun, but only really when doing licences losing speeds. The sound is addictive but that just ...

Re: Polo newbie - please help

I had a M235i and got rid of it for a Polo GTI. Only had the Polo a couple of weeks, but happy I've made the switch. Picked it up from Newcastle and did a 4 hour journey home with a variety of roads. I personally think it's more fun to drive, and way more responsive. I haven't got the sport button ...

Re: How can I improve the sound of a 6C GTI?

I've got the milltek sports cat downpipe with the non res.

No had it all fitted in one go. Milltek do recommend the resonated system with the sports cat but it's not that loud tbh it's not boomy/droney on the motorway. Didn't want a decat as i don't want the hassle mot time.

For the price i ...

Re: How can I improve the sound of a 6C GTI?

it would be a very simple check under the car to see if the middle silencer has been removed (probably has as the there is a pipe on ECP for about £16 to replace it)

i believe removing the back box is worse for drone over the mid res.

problem is people tend to spunk the money on removing/messing ...

Re: How can I improve the sound of a 6C GTI?

Cheers guys. I had a back box and res delete on an ep3 type r and the drone was unbearable. Would a back box delete instead of a res delete bring the upshift noise out more without drone?

I dont want something loud, just enough to hear the dsg farts from the cabin. There aren't enough videos on ...

How can I improve the sound of a 6C GTI?

Hi all, I posted the other day about buying a GTI and asked about the performance pack (sport button).

I test drove 2 today, one with and one without. The one without sport mode certainly sounded dull, very dull. No engine or exhaust noise in the cabin whatsoever. Very disappointing. Though the car ...

Re: Polo newbie - please help

Dink- sorry I havent worked out how to quote on here!

I'll have read up now on dsg failures and see what everyone is saying. I'm assuming a lot of them are not standard and have been tinkered with? I'll have a look anyway.

Since you're a polo vet, gearbox aside, any ownership tips or comments ...

Re: Polo newbie - please help

Thanks for that Tex, appreciate it. I know a lot of DSGs are bought by young lads, mainly on pcp where longevity isnt a thought and thrash them before everything has warmed up, get it remapped with no supporting mods etc. which may be to blame in many instances.

I think for the mileage I'm going ...

Re: Polo newbie - please help

Thanks for the input all.

Have you had bad experiences yourselves of the dsg box in the 1.8 or are you going off somebody elses experience? I dont mean that in a rude way, just a question.

I'm hoping for one with 20k miles and I'll keep for about 3-4 years (that's long term for me). Probably ...

Polo newbie - please help

After parting with my M135i I've decided to save on fuel and go back to the fun, lightweight hatches. I'm dead set on polo gti, I just need help getting the right one. Any previous m135/140/235/240 owners opinions would be great!

Firstly, I'm going for a dsg with up to 30k miles. Aside from the ...
