Re: 2008 1.2 polo bad running BZG engine

It might help to remove the air cleaner and squirt a bit of WD40 or the like (carbon cleaner ideally) onto the throttle plate and leave for a few hours or overnight.
Also possible that you have a air leak, check any "hard" plastic pipes around the brake servo, these have a tendency to crack.

Denso Spark Plugs

Maybe a word of caution??. Even though this car has a 9N3 OB4 BMD engine from new, it was purchased in March 2005. I have used Denso K16TT plugs for the past few changes but my supplier gave me Denso KJ16CR-L11 which he had listed as the replacement plugs (now?) for this engine, however the electrod...

Re: Alternator not charging, but works!

Cpould you pick up a alternator in a scrap yard, there should be plenty of them around now, some of them will take it back if it doesn't work.

Re: Fuel consumption

Does the engine stay running while coasting??, if so wonder how much saving is achieved vs the normal where the fuel injection ceases from > than ~ 1600rpm down to ~ 1000rpm, (with accelerator released)

Re: Demisting

Yes, I went from a 1991 Vauxhall Cav GSI 4X4 - which had the sensible button for the mirror heater, and a timer for the rear window heater, to a new VW Passat 4Motion in 2000, it had the silly rotating mirror switch and no timer on the rear window heater - I did not find that very sensible, plus as...

Re: Demisting

There are no silly questions or wasting time posts, Pete I don't have a button to press on my Polo..i have to turn the joystick 180 degrees to turn on the heaters. Often forget that too😂 My polo is the same but my favourite trick is to leave it on….. I left them on for nearly 21 years on a Bora, st...

Re: Fuel consumption

The driving style definitely has a huge bearing on fuel consumption. I have a 2019 65BHP Polo and regularly get 63 to 67 MPG on a 60 mile round trip. This car very recently did two round trips of 350 miles (each) of mostly motorway driving within days of each other but only averaged 53.8 MPG (not dr...

Re: Tyre pressure warning(?)

What about cornering with this ABS based system, all wheels arn't turning at the same speed, that's what a differential is for? I found its a bit of a joke, see below. I took (and posted) these readimgs about 18 months ago I think. The alarm doesn't annunciate until one tyre is ~ 18psi lower than t...

Re: No crank starter motor issue

The starter is/should be a pre engaged type where the starter solenoid pulls the pinion (and slowly rotates it) onto the flywheel, when its fully engaged then a set of contacts allows full current to spin the starter motor, not sure how the motor could spin without being fully engaged but maybe diff...

Re: Radiator fan and Relay.

Does your car have AC, one fan might be "dedicated" to this and not switched with the radiator thermo switch (screwed into the side of the rad), family owned 2005 (no AC) has a two speed cooling fan, switched from the thermo switch, don't think it has a relay, see settings, below. VW Polo ...

Re: Is the 12v battery covered under VWs 3 year warranty?

wow that seems very high what is it like after the surface voltage used ? main beam for 5 minutes? Monitored it this AM with my DVM so maybe add 0.1/0.2V to my readings, I had the headlights on + the HRS on speed2 so a reasonable load, I just stopped the car and the stop/start shut down the engine....
