Re: Exhaust recommendations

I'm finally in a position where I can order a cat back exhaust for my 2018 GTI. I want to order it from Progressive parts but their website says the pre-opf milltek (Part no SSXVW556) won't fit my car. I suspect their website is wrong as this part is built for 2018-19 cars. Can anyone spare an opini...

Re: Low Coolant

Just thought I'd give an update on the coolant leak. Got the car seen by the dealer over the last weekend and they confirmed the water pump was leaking and it needed replacing. Luckily they agreed to do it through my All-in warranty so didn't cost me a penny and I got to Enjoy a Skoda Karoq for 3 da...

Re: Low Coolant

I've had the car since 2021 with 16k on the clock. I'm guessing the thermostat has never been changed. I'm unsure if it was a sudden drop but I did top it up about 2 months ago. Where abouts should I be looking for the coolant residue?

Low Coolant

On my way home just now my 2018 GTI threw a low coolant light on the dash and upon inspection it had dipped below the minimum line. I've since refilled it and car car is fine again. What reason would it be using coolant like this? Could it be the thermostat leak you hear about on the Golf GTI/R?

VW All In

Recently had an email about Volkswagens summer sale on servicing plans. The VW all in program is being offered for for £28 a month which includes 2x services 2x MOT 2 year roadside and 2 year extended warranty. When I first enquired about the all in program at the dealer they said I can't sign up du...

Handbrake replacement

My GTI has just been in for its DSG service and the dealer called me to ask about additional works. He described my handbrake as "notchy" and suggested a cable replacement at £293. Is this the only fix or would an adjustment solve this issue? Or perhaps I'd be better off going to a VW spec...

Squeak at slow speed

In the last week or so my 2018 GTI has developed a squeak on the right side when turning at slow speeds sometimes. Google says it could be CV/universal joints or tie rods ends that need lubricating. Does this sound plausible and how would I go about this? Is there a product VW recommend for this? Th...

Exhaust recommendations

I'm in the market for a cat-back exhaust for a 2018 GTI (PRE OPF) and options are quite limited. The obvious route is probably to go with the Milltek system as I can't find any other manufacturers who cater to the pre OPF cars. Does anyone else have experience getting aftermarket exhaust on Pre OPF ...

Re: Polo AW Photo Gallery

Thanks for the compliments, I'm planning a big spring time clean also. I bought a long brush for the arch liners and it worked a treat. Also bought an angled lance for the pressure washer to get right in the wheel arches. Was surprised how much mid and debris it can collect over a short period of ti...

Re: Polo reliability and the latest What Car report

I have the mooing brakes (yet to be booked in). I've also experienced my DSG gear selector unit failing. The car would demand to be left in P but error would go after the shifted in to second or third gear. Thankfully this was fixed by VW on my extended warranty. Would have been a £900 job!
