I'm confused now though.
I believe that the first 3 digits of the size define the width of a tyre, the second 2 define the height, as a ratio of the width. Then the next 2 digits the diameter of the rim, in inches.
So a 185/60/15 compared with a 195/60/15 will be 10mm ...

Thanks, I see the problem now. I will see if a 195 6015 fits the boot well. But would the wheel (the metal part, steel) be safe to use, assuming I have the correct size of tyre?

Of course, safety is the first priority, but would you please expand on the size difference, I'm not sure what is different?
The tyre on my car is 185-60-15, my son's car has 195/60 15, so the overall diameter of the wheel is slightly different.
