im gonna try and get round to cleaning the throttle body sometime next week... a friend of mine said he's friend had similar problems, something to do with a blocked pipe :?

whoa, aint that dangerous for you to lose brakes while constant driving at 70mph!!!

Revs dropping...

hey guys..another problem ive got...

when the car is in neutral and standing still, the revs sometimes suddenly drops and the car feels like its about to cut out but the rev drops for about a second then goes back to normal...

anyone have any clue or can help?...

Hmmmm Im not sure if this is meant to happen, but when I take my keys out of the ignition, aint the clock and mileage display suppose to turn off??

Im sooo connfused lol, cos i remembered awhile back that I couldnt see the clock and mileage display on the dashboard unless the key was in the ignition.

exactly the problem, higher revs, the sound becomes more noticeable and much louder especially in gears 1, 2 and 3...but in 4th and 5th, the sound is still there but not as loud...

the power steering pump cost me £106 and my uncle fitted the part on...it took him about less than 1hour...

open up your bonnet, get someone to rev your engine so the noise is made and try to listen out for the sound coming from near the timimg belt tensioner and the alternator cos the power ...

i jus had a similar problem...everytime i accelerated or deccelerated, i would get the whining noise...

it turns out that it was the Power Steering Pump that was making all the noise, so i had that change and the noise has been gone since...so you
may want to look into that...

yeaa i tried what you said the other day and it does make this kind off howling sound, not the same sound as when am driving tho...

it cant be the gears because i went back to the guys that did the gearbox about 2months ago and they said the sound had nothing to do with the gearbox...

well...ive changed the alternator and the timing belt tensioner and BOTH were not the problem!...
so now the only thing left that could be the problem is the Power Steering Pump.

Does any1 kno how much a garage would charge to fix this or how much i could get this part from and where?

well ive checked with two reliable mechanics and both have said that the "alternator" is the main source of this problem...it shouldnt be too much to fix cos im gonna get the part myself and give it to someone i know to fix...

yea i went back to them today and they said it wasnt the gearbox, he took it for a drive and said it could be the bearing from the timing belt or the auxilary belt (whatever that is lol)

so i went to another mechanic and he said it could be the timing belt also or the alternator...or even something ...

ohh and i had the gearbox done bout 3months ago aswell..so could it be the gearbox problem again?...

Whining Noise (irratating)

:( ahhh i get this whining noise from the car when am in gears 1, 2 and 3 but in 4 and 5, the noise seems to go away...

i used to have the noise, but after i changed to a custom stainless full system exhaust, the whinning noise seemed to have gone..but now its back!!

has anybody ever had this ...

i recently went into kwik-fit and the guy there said its probably not to do with tracking cos only one side is worn (left front tyre) and the front right tyre is perfectly fine...he said it could be the wishbone...

My polo's steering tends to pull to the left all the time and as a result, the front tyre on the left, the tread on the outside of the tyres is worning out quite quickly!! but the other 3 tyres are fine. Can anyone advice me ...
