Re: New Doors please.
Couple of issues. The first is that the car's red. I've had red cars before and they're very susceptible to fading, so the doors may not be a perfect colour match. But to be honest anything would be better than they are now.
Faded red paint certainly used to be an issue - Vauxhalls with ...

New Doors please.
My daughter's managed to mangle both nearside doors of her 59 plate Polo.
Quotes for new door skins and painting have come in between £1,000 and £1,800. Which seems ridiculous.
So we were thinking of trying to source 2 SH doors and fit those instead.

If I was to go to the car and listen for the click under power - do you mean when I turn on the aircon or when I rev the engine?amer6R wrote: Sat May 14, 2022 10:19 pm Check Pressure sensor, Check sensor N280, check if air con clutch is engaging ( should hear a click when you give it power)

Re: New Air con compressor fitting cost (estimate)
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
All that stuff above literally went over my head. Have know idea how to do any of that stuff.
I do have a friendly independent who've said that if the compressor does need replacing, the final cost would be around £350.
I do trust them. They saved me ...

New Air con compressor fitting cost (estimate)
My daughter's car's Air Con isn't working.
Drove it down to Halfords for a quick check to see if there was a leak or it needed regassing and was informed that the compressor isn't kicking in.
I've checked the fuses (but that's about the limit of my abilities).
Assuming worst case, what is the ...

Re: Non auto folding out mirrors
This happens on our Q5 too.
I figure it's to save the battery.
Quite often I go to get something out the car, and it would be a pain to unlock it, and have the mirrors unfold, pick something up off the seat, and then lock it again and have the mirrors fold back in.

Thanks all.
Definitely looks to be correct, if a little odd.
In '0' headlights are on, but none of the interior lights are. Suggesting this is daytime use only.

Well I had a look at the rears tonight and in all three positions they’re on.
They don’t change in brightness in any position.

Re: Headlight concerns...
Hi, welcome to the forum!
I'm sure that someone with a "same age" Polo will respond soon, but I think that this is down to VW Group adding a half baked version of DRL to their cars before rolling out the full blown version much later.
Yup. Mines a 2011 and that's how they work. No idea what ...

Re: Headlight concerns...
@Kell; your six hours effort haven’t been in vain - car looks great! 😎.
As for the lights; it’s probably as @RUM4MO has said. Are the rear lights illuminated when the dipped beam headlamps are on and the light switch is in the ‘0’ position or just the dipped beam headlamps?
Do you happen to ...

Re: Headlight concerns...
Thanks for the reply.
I know the seller spoke about DRLs, but I'd assumed they'd just be some sort of sidelight rather than full-on headlights.
Just want to check that it's OK and not going to continue to drain the battery.

Headlight concerns...
Hi all - first post here.
My daughter's just got her first car - a 59 plate Polo.
Looks fairly good all round - especially now I've spent some time with a porter cable to get rid of the worst of the scratches and swirls.
Before buying, we paid for an RAC check, so everything should be all OK ...
