Re: Broken plastic in my car after work done by garage
Agreed, if it was necessary, then so be it. It was more a case of I didn't want to randomly find some preventable damage 6 months' down the line, but based on everything I can't see that being the case. Thank you!

Re: Broken plastic in my car after work done by garage
Yeah I had front and rear changed. Come to think of it I did find some of this broken plastic in the back of the car, but I've never knowingly had anything done to the handbrake cable. Would I be able to notice it anywhere?

Broken plastic in my car after work done by garage
I had the cambelt and break disks on my car changed and when I got it back I found various pieces of broken plastic in the car. They're like plastic clips that have been snapped off.

Re: Central locking indicator light showing fault
Well I took it back to Halfords for them to use whatever diagnostic tool they used when they fitted it and they were no use. Didn’t change anything.
The timing with the battery change is way too much of a coincidence. Either there’s some ghost fault that needs clearing or they’ve upset the ...

Central locking indicator light showing fault
The central locking indicator light in the driver's door is going solid red after flashing a few times. According to the manual this indicates a fault with the locking system, but all the doors seem to lock and open fine.
Today is the first day I've noticed it. Previously it just flashed ...

Re: Armrest question
Oh really. I could’ve sworn it looked different but maybe I was confused by the tape they stuck all over the armrest to stop the rattle.
Thanks very much for going to all that effort.

Re: Armrest question
Appreciated! I tried taking out the ones where the hinge is but they were far too big.

Armrest question
Long story, a VW garage took some screws out of my centre armrest when trying to stop an annoying rattle and never put them back. It’s a lost cause now. Does anyone know what kind of screws go where I’ve indicated?

Re: Weird alloy wheel centre cap deterioration
@ElAlastair; Some wheel cleaning products will degrade / damage wheel centre caps and the plastic wheel bolt covers. Have you changed the products you use on your wheels or have you started going to one of those hand car wash places, or if you already use the hand car wash places, have you ...

Re: Weird alloy wheel centre cap deterioration
I’m not going to be rushing to get another one, but I will at some point. Pretty sure it must have been a dog to happen in the space of a few days.
I did manage to change it previously pretty easily. If I recall correctly I just prised it out gently with a knife.

Jeez, really? I know dogs do that but I didn't know it was that strong.
Gonna be hard to stop it happening again in future...

Weird alloy wheel centre cap deterioration
I noticed today that one of the alloy wheel centre caps (not sure of the technical term) has been totally stripped of all colour. Here's what it looked like:

Re: Slow opening boot
In the end I bought some OEM ones from a genuine parts dealer. More expensive than other brands, but I got them a bit cheaper than the main VW dealers quoted, and if they last as long and work as well as the old ones I’ll be happy.

Re: Slow opening boot
Out of interest does anyone know the part number for the OEM boot strut? Or a direct link? Thanks.
Honestly know nothing about boot struts other than that my old ones worked fine so I’ll use that as a starting point.
Thanks for the tips on alternatives.
