Leak in the fuel pump housing

Hi! The fuel pump housing is leaking from a small whole within the fuel pump cover. This whole is also shown in picture 4.6C "Showing the fuel pump sealing ring" in chapter 3.4 of the Haynes manual (#0813). It's the whole on the left side of the arrow. Surely, it looks that I have to repla...

Should be a MKI. 895 cc was the first Polo and 1043 is the smallest engine on the MKII.

Thanks, that's really a valuable statement!

(For myself and my Polo, it's a little bit late, now. Hope the Polo will last another 20 years, then. 8) )

I got the same advisory for our 22 years old Polo. I really wonder if a worn bush in the upper suspension strut can be detected by only moving the wheels. :?: Surely, the tester couldn't show me those bushes as the are hidden. I only noticed that testing at this MOT station, where I'm since three ye...

My one has a rubber ball to suck the liquid and a red plastic arrow to point to the scale. Yours is a very fragile tube out of glas with a ball inside? Mine is all plastic. Well, if yours were rubbish and mine's is the same price, too, ... Maybe I'll ask the nearby Volkswagen dealer. After 22 years,...

Anti-Freeze & Coolant Tester

Does anyone know how reliable is this Clarke CHT433 Anti-Freeze & Coolant Tester that Machine Mart (machinemart.co.uk) sells for £ 3.51? I drained the radiator and fill in then 3 litres of Castrol Antifreeze, 2 litres of water and 1.5 litres must have remained in the system as the Haynes manual...

On my 1.05 engine I had to clean the oil every day from the air filter housing. Everyday after 30 miles town and dual-carriage way with 60 mph, I used two or three sheets of kitchen roll paper. :x

With that oil separator it is absolutely clean as before.

I think this crankcase ventilation system has gone and is blocked. So the pressure of the engine blows oily droplets into the air filter housing. You can try it again if it's working, using the old air filter to be cautious, but I wouldn't have too much hope. This crankcase ventilation hose is there...

Hand brake adjustment

Hi all, Does someone know how the MOT garages judge the hand brake with 5 notches on a Polo? On a road with strong upward gradient, maybe 10%, the handbrake seizes only at the 4th notch, and on a even steeper road I have to go up to the 5th and last notch. At the 3rd notch, the hand brake starts wor...

Now in summer I'm getting 1.6 gallons on 60 miles.

Polo 1.05 with 40 PS on a 50/50 mix of town and dual carriage way with lots of roundabouts.

It's a 17mm Allen key plug looking in the direction where the wheel is.

It's on the curved upper part on the gear box where the gear box looks towards the passenger compartment.

It's well hidden
and very narrow there!

I fear I havn't fully understood the whole story. You tried to open the door from the outside? Could you see what's wrong with the lock? I'm asking this because on my MKII there are coming three metal levers/pushers/rods or the like from the inside of door into that door lock. Those metal levers/pus...

Welcome to the forum.

I had once a leak in the fuel pipe where it goes into the fuel pump.

I didn't smell anything, but the fuel consumption was four times higher than normal.
