Carburettor for a 1984 Polo 86C 1.05 GL engine

Hi all, it looks like I would need a need a new carb. After running over twenty miles the engine simply went off in a curve in first gear and didn't start anymore. Sometimes, it sounds like it wanted to start but the engine never runs longer than a second. Spark plugs and distributor cap have been c...

Re: MK2 Alternator Problem

Hi, welcome to this forum. Only, it seems to be quiet now since a few months. Unfortunately, I cannot read your pictures because the company filter says "Acces denied. Adult content." That happens sometimes even with work-related links. I would need now to go for a computer no...

Re: 1 Litre polo as a first car

My guess is that £1000 is plenty of money for a MKI or a MKII (if you have posted in the right section) in excellent condition. If you haven't done so, I would look at ebay just for getting some ideas on actual prices.

Re: TIMING BELT MARKS 1995 1.0 AEV

I haven't done it myself but I guess that a Haynes manual would explain that. They are cheap on ebay and you may need it for other info, too.

Re: Grinding Sound Help!!!

When the grinding sound is only or is more when you drive a curve in a particular direction, that means only when driving a right curve OR a left curve then it's mostly wheel bearings. CV joints are only protective rubber thingis. If they are cut or otherwise broken then can enter dust and dirt and ...

Re: Heating system died

If the thermostat worked before but now is always open (better than always shut  ) you could check this with the temperature gauge on the dashboard.

Polo is mot'd, now. The tester starred very long at them when re-testing, though. :D The coating of those pipes has a few punctures where it starts rusting. I simply cleaned those spots with sandpaper and gave it a finish with WD-40 and an oily working glove. 8) Does someone know a proper treatment ...

Thanks. Fortunately, it's not urgent at all. I could clean the "excessively" corroded pipes simply with my oily working gloves and they look like new again.

Replacement brake pipes

Hi all,

I was just wondering if it's possible to get some new pre-configured brake pipes or would I need to bend my own ones with someone who has a flaring tool?

There is a part that looks like a plastic can of the size of cola can that gets fitted in between the rubber hose from the oil separator to the air filter. It did cost about £15 if I remember right. Somewhere here in this forum was even the part number and some more info. Maybe you'll find it looki...

Also, I've seen this after the car stood a long time or the engine compartment was moist and wet after a wash.

All kind of LEDs on the dashboard went crazy then including this LED indicating overheating.

New tank from ebay

Hi all!

On ebay they sell a tank to fit ALL Polos from August 1984 to September 1990.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=020

Would this tank really fit in ALL Polos for that time?
