I called VW and it's £74 for the regulator alone..
Although I've now repaired mine without any parts, I'm intrigued about the massive difference in prices we were quoted from VW dealers. I was told I couldn't get the regulator on its own and that it would cost £180 plus VAT for each side.

Re: Electric Window problems - any suggestions?
After a (very) long bout of procrastination I finally repaired both of my windows following Marcman's instructions. My car is a Y-reg variant/estate so it was slightly different to the description but not so much as to make a difference.

Re: Passenger elec window just stopped working
I still haven't got around to sorting my jammed windows. However, I understand that it's fairly easy but quite expensive to fix if you need to replace the regulator. I was quoted £180 (plu VAT) per side at my local VW dealer for replacements for my 2001 Variant a couple of weeks ago.

Re: There's still hope for the 6N3 998 801 A repair kit!
Because the window is stuck in the up position you can't get to the window clamps to remove the window from the regulator. It also makes it very hard to get the screwdriver to the motor as the regulator is not manouverable enough.

Mine started doing this after a long run from Yorkshire to Devon. It was fine all the way and then started making a scuffing noise the next time I moved it. I've tried everything and it still hasn't stopped two years later! Maybe I should investigate it properly, especially as the adjuster has never ...

I've got exactly the same problem with my estate and my brother (who owned the car previously and has already replaced BOTH! motors and regulators), claims he can probably swap them both in a couple of hours once I've got the parts. If you haven't already sorted yours out, I'll make notes and pass ...
