Re: Coming/leaving home feature on 2016 Polo 6C

I would have never thought to get the engine wet! The sensors and electrical components must be water resistant, as they are surely bound to get quite wet? My assumption was that the bonnet and belly pan protected the electrics from water ingress and that getting them wet wasn’t great. What you said...

Re: Coming/leaving home feature on 2016 Polo 6C

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5FHH9MV14o I only just realised that was in your post. That’s hilarious  Re iichel, I can definitely attest to the average rust protection based on pulling the centre console apart (I previously shared the image of the multimedia interface bracket and many ...

Re: Ignition coil puller comparison

That is all very useful to know. Thank you! I am still waiting for the ignition coil puller to come in, but hopefully I should be able to get the job done in the next week or so. Re the brake fluid I purchased 2x B000750M3 which as iichel pointed out when I was finding the part number in another top...

Re: Coming/leaving home feature on 2016 Polo 6C

I see! I don’t have VCDS but it is definitely on the longterm purchase list once I finish servicing and learning about the major components of my car. I would like to do several upgrades such as the auto headlights, shark fin antenna, disc brake conversion, TPMS, and some others. I have a lot of rea...

Re: Ignition coil puller comparison

Thank you RUM4MO, Ciclo, and 2226, that’a really valuable to hear which tools you use from your experience. My plan was to use a 16mm magnetic socket going into a 3/8” drive 250mm extension bar (then into my breaker bar for removal, and torque wrench for installation). I absolutely get why the 250mm...

Re: Coming/leaving home feature on 2016 Polo 6C

Haha that’s a bit reassuring to hear it happens. I’ll have to get used to it probably. I’m surprised the software doesn’t pick it up and adjust for it. Perhaps there is a way to tune the needle position through coding? Although I’ve never seen an example of this being done. The position could be sto...

Re: Water pump and thermostat replacement recommendations and best practises for a 2016 Polo

Good to hear that the job went well for you in the end :D

Let’s both hope that VW has updated their lasted pump design such that it doesn’t fail prematurely again.

Re: Coming/leaving home feature on 2016 Polo 6C

Ahh ok! It was worth a try while I was enabling the needle sweep on the cluster unit. Speak of which, does your speedometer needle also dip slightly below zero? I noticed it when setting up the needle swipe and now it bugs me slightly

Re: Coming/leaving home feature on 2016 Polo 6C

On an unrelated note, is it common for the speedometer needle to sit just below zero as seen?

Coming/leaving home feature on 2016 Polo 6C

Today I tried to enable the coming/leaving home feature on my 2016 Polo 6C and to my disappointment neither the coming home or leaving home appeared to work. These are the settings from Carista: IMG_1433.jpeg IMG_1434.jpeg The settings on the MMI: IMG_1432.jpeg I should note that I don’t have the au...

Re: Ignition coil puller comparison

I figure it can’t hurt to check the gap anyway in the unlikely event it isn’t correct. Thanks for the gap distance Ciclo. Was that screenshot in the 6R_6C repair manuals that I downloaded? I’m still learning my way around where things are in the PDFs :D I have heard the ignition coils can put up a f...

Re: Ignition coil puller comparison

Great to know. Thanks for clarifying on that. I’ll get the Permatex grease, it’s even on sale from Amazon. Do you usually check the spark plug tip clearance with feeler gauges? I’m getting the OEM VW NGK spark plugs so I’m not sure if this is necessary, although I’ve seen a few websites talk about d...

I’m also looking for a suitable silicone grease for the ignition coil contacts. I assume this will do?

Ignition coil puller comparison

Has anyone had any experience with either of these ignition coil pullers? I’m trying to decide which one to go with.

The latter one seems to apply more even pressure to the ignition coil from two points rather than one.
