It MIGHT be in the MK V manual. I'm not going to part with good money just for this single problem.

The AVS web site shows that the same part applies to both the late MK4 and the MK5 (late 6N1 & 6N2)

See:

Unfortunately there isn't a picture of the part (which ...

Been looking for an answer to this myself.

The guide refered to by Speedlaw is for the 6N1 or earlier and doesn't cover the later model

I have a late 1999 Mk4 which has the same setup as that described by fisha. This wheel setup is not described in the MK4 Haynes manual. I assume that the (early ...

Checked the battery - it's fully charged and the charging system is working perfectly.

As I said in my first post. The above occur as I start the car. So the key/ignition switch must be interupting the feed to the clock etc. Vey strange??

Thanks mmh but the car starts without problem 99% of the time. The battery connections are good. I assumed the symptoms were all due to interuption of power supply but I think it will have something to do with the ignition switch end. I can't for the life of me see how the switch could interupt a ...

Ignition Switch?

Hi

I've got a 1999 1.0 and I'm getting an intermittent fault when I put the key in the ignition and turn it to start the car. It goes like this -

(i) The clock re-sets itself to 00:00
(ii) the trip meter re-sets itself to 0 miles
(iii) the starter motor seems to have difficulty starting the ...

I assume that you didn't replace the discs at the same time and that the squeak is coming from you front wheels?

This being the case I think that you will find that the existing discs have a 'lip' where the previous pads were not sitting on bright metal. (A groove may have been visible on the old ...

Has there been any grinding at all? When engaged have you noticed any unusual noises? Is there a mat stopping you from fully depressing the clutch?

It may be that the clutch cable needs adjusting. When it was driving OK did you notice if you had to fully depress the clutch to change the gears?

If ...

The brakes on Polos are quite good normally. It sounds like all of your problems will be sorted by changing the Brake servo hose. This comes with a check valve already fitted. they cost around £18 from a motor factor (probably a bit more from VW) Get someone who knows what they are doing to check ...

The brake servo is connected to the inlet manifold. Pressing the brake pedal actuated this servo and may have an effect on the airflow into the intake. However the way it should work is that the engine creates a vacuum within the system which assists braking.

I would suggest that there could be a ...

The fault with the rear wash wipe can be solved easily. The hose in the engine bay will have slipped out of a connector near to the pump. To gain access you need to unbolt the water resevoir and move it to one side. Takes 10 minutes.

I would think that you have a loose connection at the battery.

You need to check that straight away. If the battery disconnects at speed you'll loose the lot- - -

If that's the case, why not just use the 'instant gasket' that comes in a tube?

You would only need to use it where the rubber has failed on the original.
The only concern I would have would be to ensure that the smallest amount is used to do the job and that none of it can seperate cause internal ...

If the thermostat is stuck open, The LOWER radiator hose will tend to heat up slowly in line with that of the upper hose.

i.e. The LOWER hose SHOULD stay cool until the temp gauge needle reaches the mid-point.

As said earlier checking this should be done whilst the car is stationary.
