Thanks for the advice. In the end I did go with F24 for the constant power and F45 for the accessory connection. The connections on the one side of F45 are delivering 12v but I would say thet gripped securely on only 1 side of the fuse, its not the most tightly retained fuse tap you'll ever see ...

Similar issues I think - trying to hardwire a dashcan into my Missus 2022 polo (facelifted version with thin VW badges).
