Re: Advice on buying a polo please

thanks for the info mate, some thing to think about now..

Im trying to find out when the Cam belt requires change on the 1.2 and 1.4 but I am reading that the 1.2 has a cam chain, therefore does not need it.
Is this true?

Thanks in advance

wouldnt go off saying its a faulty pump straight away mate, that probably the worst advice you can give, they arnt exactly cheap to replace. Always best to test it first mate. Right first thing you need to do is try and listen for where the hiss is coming from exactly. You onbviously have a leak som...

the gearbox must be matched to that particular engine, gear ratios etc will come into play. So no you cant im afraid. Going to have to get used to the fact that VW gearboexes are just poo and they are happy for it to be that way. Have a look at this: http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/thread/642836.aspx MK4...

how much would you say is a good price to pay for a re-con gearbox with fitting and a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty would be?
Ive got a 6N2 1.9 SDI, 5th slips out and theres grinding noises in all gears.

well you may have a point, although I seem to be seeing people having a problem with the gearbox across all specs of the 6N2. WEnt to get a quote for my gearbox recon from a specialist gearbox place and they told me they have loads of mk5 polos in with the gearbox problem, so maybe its a common fault?
