I have notice for a few days a loud ticking noise coming from the glovebox area. It ticks about every 2/3 seconds, only when stationary or going vey slow. Nothing seems to be affected - I know there is someting to do with the air con in that area, but the air con seems to be okay. Any ideas?

I have had my polo gti from new, almost 11 years, are there any more 1 owner cars on the forum?

I forgot to say that I had an MOT a few days ago and the lamba reading was 1.03, which is right on the limit. Am I right in thinking if the number is greater than 1.0 the fuel mixture is a little weak? The CO and HC levels were also the lowest ever tested for the car

Recently I have noticed that I am getting about 60 miles more on a tank of petrol, now getting about 385 per tank. Is the fuel mixture running weak. Is a faulty oxygen sensor? Also, I have noticed a slight misfire when holding low revs in a gear. What do you think?

It has a full vw service history - just run out of space on the service book.

Just thought I would say that my car was 10 years old on the 9th of March and I am the first and only owner. Has anybody else had their car for a similar length of time?

He charged me £500 to have the gearbox rebuilt and labour for fitting, it includes fully synthetic good quality gearbox oil.

I'll kill 2 birds with one stone - In 5th gear it pulls 80mph at just under 3000revs and 100 at 3500. I haven't gone any faster. It doesn't pull quite so well in 5th as the previous gear did but if you want to overtake just put it down into 4th - with the induction kit and exhaust , it breathes real...

The gearbox was rebuilt by Mike Morgan Rallysport at Aberdare in South Wales. He is an expert on gearboxes and diffs.
