Unlocking each others cars
Me and my mate both have a GTI, mine is silver and his is red. We can both lock and unlock each others cars with any of our key remotes. I like driving past his house in the dead of night and leaving him a message on his drivers seat for the morning, or indeed borrowing his sub without permission ...

Most unreliable car ever.....
Since I got my GTI not even 11 months ago it has needed the following (bare in mind it has only done 36,000 miles):
Exhaust bracket welded back on,
A new low tone horn,
Cam belt tensioner snapped so new belt and tensioner,
A new temprature guage sender,
New window motor,
New window Regulator,
Rear ...

Buzzing noise in 5th gear
I also get a high pitched noise in 5th on my GTI, starts around 60mph then get louder and louder. If i put slight pressure on the gearstick with my hand or even just a finger on it it goes away. With the gaiter removed it is much louder, like a high pitched buzz but I cant locate where it is coming ...
