No way dude! I haven't seen your car kicking about much! Have you had it long? It'll be 2 years in march... the missus uses it more than me tbh as I walk to work, although that's about to change due to new job. Nice work on the new job! Is it for any company I would have heard of? I am in the desig...

That's where I took it first because they are normally really good. I think they were too busy to have one of the better mechanics take a look and this old guy just said it was the gearbox before I could fully explain when I was hearing the noise. So are you from around my way M6TT F? I took it to a...

Ok, just got 2 more opinions and they both reckon it's the clutch release bearing.

Does anyone know how much that would be to fix?

I'm from Macclesfield womble68 so about 50 miles east of you :)

I took it in to the garage last night who had a quick drive of it and said that they can hear the same noise (but alot quieter) when the car is in third and fourth.

They thought it was probably the gearbox on the way out. Does this sound right to those of you who have had their gearboxes die on them?

Strange Noise

Hi all,

I noticed a strange noise with my GTi at the weekend...

When I have the clutch peddle pressed down, the car seems to make a strange gratting noise. The noise completely disappears when the clutch pedal is released!?!

Does anyone get the same noise or know what might be causing it?

Cheers Alex!

I don't suppose you know the part number of the temp sensor do you?

Also, I have heard that you need to top up the coolant after replacing the temp sensor. Do you know where I do that and what coolant/water mix I need to use?

Buying Car Parts

Hi folks, I need to get hold of a few parts for my Polo GTi (a temperature sensor, a rear shock, and some new centre caps). Does anyone know a good place to get parts from (other than the stealers)? Also... Has anyone changed the temp sensor before? I have heard it is easy to do but I just need some...

Re: Temperature Sensor

Cheers for the help guys! why what is up with it? how is it faulty? The problem with it is that the temp sensor gauge bottoms out intermitently. The guy at the garage said it is a really common fault with all VWs. He showed me where the sensor is on the engine so I thought I'd swap it over myself to...

Temperature Sensor

Hi,

I've got a faulty temperature sensor on my GTi and was wondering if anyone knew where I could buy one from online?
