Yep it really was 957 miles from the rebuild!!

It is under warranty the only trouble is they are not open again now till after new year, which is a pain as i was ment to be driving it to france for new year!!

Surely there is not a factory fitted gearbox left on any polo gti, if there is you are damm lucky

I put a sachs clutch in from eurocarparts when i had my box done, its loads better then the standerd one its softer, works smother just a hole round better clutch in my opinion

As much as i love the look of my 2000 GTI i hate the gearbox!!

mule my box started to whine when i let off the throttle.. i got a recon box from volks spares for £450+vat and fitted a sachs clutch and had no problems since.. i found it cheaper and less time consuming to get a recond box than send mine off to be fixed. mine was on 60k miles

Hi mule, welcome to the forums :)

VW will do something about your gearbox yes. They'll offer to take a look at it for you but will tell you that it takes several (6 or 7) hours of engineer time and you can imagine the kind of figure that will come out at when labour costs £65 per hour! :?

My clutch seems to be ok, but today has really pi***d me off, my gear box has gone i think it makes a real bad whining sound if you let off the throtle, and the gear box has been whining slightly for a while
