Depends on the gearbox. Some of them are above the driveshafts at the back of the gearbox What engine/gearbox have you got? The codes will be on the label underneath the boot carpet (for example engine codes start A or B and are three letters like BYD, and gearboxes are generally Dxx on wards like D...

Youll only get an error on the full climatronic. The climatic semi auto aircon doesnt monitor this

You are best to take the drum off and service the mechanism. Its likely fouled up with brake dust

Possibly, you need to check the orientation of both, but yes its quite possible one is wrong as they are sided

Yes. The markings should match up with the balljoints. They normally cast reproductions like the originals.

Ok, refreshed my memory on this. Same part number for all models

However, on 14" and greater wheels (16vs and GTIs), the right and left ball joints are swapped over

13" instructions - see the markings

They’ll have the wrong ball joints. I’d suggest either febi or genuine From TPS/ the dealer
