Re: Polo GTI Vs MK4 Golf GTI
When I was looking at buying, a comparible golf GTI was much more expensive than the Polo GTI... add to that, the insurance being a bit higher... But I guess if those are not problems for you, then I would go for the golf... Spend £200 or so on a standard golf for a re-map and panel filter and you w...

GTI Roofracks
Anyone have any experience of fitting roof racks to a GTI?
I know it has "slots" in the roof with removeable covers... how do the covers come out?
Do the roofracks do any damage to the paintwork etc?

Re: how to adjust gear linkage on GTI?
Have a look under neath at the back of the gearbox where the selector shaft is... I dont think there is much that can be "adjusted"... it is easy to assemble it incorrectly though!

Re: how to adjust gear linkage on GTI?
The gear linkage is not really adjustable..... has the linkage been re-installed properly after the gearbox was put back in?
Failing that... has the clutch been put in incorrectly meaning it doesnt properly disengage?

Re: Camshaft sensor or engine speed sensor??
Engine speed sensor IIRC is down on the crank pulley on the drivers side... its mounted on the oil pump casting. Errors like this would suggest an earth/connectivity issue... I would trace the sensor back to the ECU checking and cleaning all the connections on the loom... Heat can break down the cop...

Re: any one re gassed their air-con latley -rough cost needed
Yup.. My last one was £48.... If you can, find an aircon specialist... they are most likely to do a proper job.... it should be: Drain current gas and oil > Pressure test with die to check for leaks > re-fill with gas and the correct amount of lubricant oil.... then do the anti fungal bomb inside th...

Re: ABS Light
Sounds like you got water into one of the connectors... Or your abs module needs repairing.. IMHO, never, ever use a pressure washer inside wheel arches/engine bay or under the car.... you really do not want to force water into the electrics, brakes, suspension components... A layer of grease helps ...

Re: Farty smell
I very much doubt its the cat....
The aircon system gives an eggy smell when it needs servicing!
Get it re-gassed properly and then set off one of those "disinfectant" aircon bombs inside the car with the airocn running in the hope it clears the smell...

Seat comfort for the taller driver
Anyone experience discomfort (especially in the left leg) on long drives when driving the polo? I am 6'2" and after about 2 hours of driving I get pain in my left leg. I suspect its because my thigh has no support on the seat bolster even with my foot on the footrest next to the clutch pedal. I...
