As far as i know, the Type 86 is a mk1 polo or Derby,
and the Type 86c is a mk2 polo or classic,
Think that's what they're known as in Germany/europe.

Sounds like you have an 86c or mk2.
To be honest, any suspension from mk1/mk2/mk3 polo should fit, but ...

You'd be better transplanting the lot m8!,
driveshafts, front struts, lower arms with bigger ball joints, (unless your's is a late mk1 82, as these already have em)as well as the anti roll bar, this has a kink in it it clear the 3f's box,which should clear the bay no probs! so stick with the 3f's ...

Have a word with MK1magic off Porka(Arron), he's getting some moulded in fibreglass for his project mk1!
Might even be getting pattern bumpers too! :wink:

I've had mine since feb (77 R plate Polo L), and after getting cheezed off with the ill running 895cc carb..decided to drop a 3f in it!(cheers 86c!).

Just recently had head skimmed, couple of new valves, new stem seals, headgasket, waterpump, cambelt etc!..and in process of putting cam wheel back ...

Yeh, this is right...when you order a kit now you usually get 2 different sizes of springs, usually 40's at rear and much lower at front..say 70mm!
So's you can carry stuff without rubbing.

Fitting this really depends on what u want to run off it!!!
Most 12v appliances take a big whack out of your battery. :cry: ....say 4amps for a powered coolbox....(appliance wattage X 12(volt) = Amps) So u've got to be careful what u run. :shock: .......gotta make sure cable is strong enough to take ...

Hi! heard u can convert Mk1 Polo front brakes with Mk1 golf calipers.(is this just to convert to vented discs rather than solid?) :oops: ...is this a worthwhile mod,....what else can i do to improve braking?
