Re: Green Brake Fluid?

Right maybe I've answered that the question as to if any brake fluid is green initially or why can it turn green! Seems that no brake fluid starts of life being green, typically as I said crimson or now mainly clear yellow in appearance, but, as some manufacturers use a brake line alloy that contain...

Re: Green Brake Fluid?

That is a bit annoying, I can't comment on if any brands are green as I've only ever used crimson stuff in the far past, and manufacturer's own brands from then until now which have always been clear yellow. For me, changing brake fluid every 2 years the issue is never getting the satisfaction of se...

Re: RON - 1.0 litre turbo Polo ?

Interesting as I think the Esso branding only covering the filling station end, Greenergy I think supply and so manage the stocking on most filling stations now that the exploration side of the oil business has moved on and handed the refinery operations over to someone that only does that sort of w...

Re: 2015 VW Polo Air Con Problem 262914-Refrigerant Pressure Too Low

Well the facts are that all AC gas systems in cars and some other systems, have flexible pipe runs and seals on the compressor and all other metal pipe joining points, so a small amount of R134A will transfer across the sealing material and flexible pipes, which will always lead to these systems "ru...

Re: 1.4 TDI BNM Engine - Coolant pressurizing

Bad news if some G13 stuff does not look exactly like VW's branded stuff I always took it that exact colour was one of the prime requirements along with chemical make up. Draining flushing with clean water and a refill must be the first step - I can't say what to dilute the G13 conc with as I live a...

Re: South Africa VW easter holidays

I'd doubt if many foreign manufacturing plants will be stopping for a couple weeks at Easter, the only reason that there will be timed stoppages will be for model changes including essential maintenance - and doing that for a few days over the Easter period might make sense - normally large manufact...

Re: Fault code reading ?

True, we all have different needs, I was coming to VW for the first time with a view to getting my wife a VW as well, so when I imported a new Passat 4Motion in 2000 and then discovered that the washer fluid and the brake wear warning were not functioning on my new car, I approached my local VW deal...

Re: Fault code reading ?

VCDS really is, I think, the standard that other reverse engineered VW Group specific diagnostic tools aims to equal and the support is superb and ongoing. Pico, I've always fancied buying that but never have done - yet! I've owned VCDS since 2001 and it has been very useful though I have not explor...

Re: 1.4 TDI BNM Engine - Coolant pressurizing

That just looks like Purple VW G13 coolant to me. See: https://www.wolflubes.com/EN_EU/Blog/2016/What-you-need-to-know-about-G13-antifreeze-and-coolant.aspx There appears to be no oil on top (can't see that clearly through glass) or corrosion sediment. Seems OK to me. Drain flush and refill if you ...

Re: Infotainment screen issue

Surely it is time for VW Group to demand that all their franchises adhere to all the basic group of "benefits" - I had that trouble, though out with warranty with Audi on the Audi UK website, where you get diverted to, there is an all singing and dancing statement of "why you should stay within the ...

Re: Low compression, but valves don't look burnt :-(

Now that you have mentioned it, it would be a very smart thing to do to clean up and check the threads a bit beyond where they have been down to in depth, but I'd not use an oiled old bolt, only a dry tap - I can't say what the thread is though. If these bolts are the socket headed maybe female spli...

Re: ETKA date format?

The way these two dates flow one from the other, I'm going for that it is the same way as we write dates and not the American way!

The >> is up to and when used the other way is from.

The period might be engine plant manufacturing periods. Though if it is just months years, that would work better!

Re: Low compression, but valves don't look burnt :-(

I'd just be telling lies if I commented on the cost to refurb these heads, so it looks like that machine shop knows about these engines, which can only be good news, onwards and upwards!

Re: Low compression, but valves don't look burnt :-(

I’d roughly check the block for flatness or lack of any high spots using something flat like a straight edge or steel rule in good condition - really just a rough quick check before fitting the head back on. As you are taking that head to a machine shop for refurb, would it cost a huge extra lump of...
