Re: Found this in engine bay...

I agree, most of these tools have a plastic ball at the end, the tool shown in the later posting is just a threaded bar to allow the front of some cars to be moved out into the service position, ie to hang the front end on while accessing front areas of the VW Group in-line engines like timing etc.

Re: Couple more questions - Exhaust and Air Con

So do most of us DIYers! I remember when my wife's September 2002 Polo 1.4 16V at just over 5 years old, needed to get its exhaust sorted, the flexi section had started to pull away from the exhaust - my only option at that time was a VW sourced exhaust section that included that flexi section and t...

Re: Couple more questions - Exhaust and Air Con

Exhaust, maybe currently all in one piece if still the factory fitted one, the manucat is the cat and exhaust manifold in one assembly, then you have a short bend then a flexi section, after that the middle box or resonator, section of exhaust then a rear box. The middle box might even be a second c...

Re: Adding auto dim rain sensor mirror

These cars do not have a BCM as such, most of these functions and power control is taken care of by the CCM or Comfort Control Module I think, so yes, I'd think that you will need to source a higher level version of one of these controller. My wife's previous 2002 9N Polo 1.4 16V SE was spec'd with ...

Re: Hats off to JCT 600 Rotherham

Exactly, when my wife's Polo was in getting the gearbox top mounting replaced while under warranty, the "fixer" disconnected the battery sense cable and forgot to refit it, it was only a few days later when I was wondering why the car was not auto stopping/starting, that I had a nose around under th...

Re: 9n3 parts swapping

That is serious braking upgrading that you are doing to a low powered "first" car! I prefer rear discs to rear drums, but with these small light cars, the drum brakes are more than good enough and I'd doubt if fitting discs will improve things and will come with the bonus of easier cleaning - but th...

Re: 1.2 Tsi oil capacity?

I'd the capacity listed in the 6R Haynes workshop manual will be for the 1.2 3 cylinder petrol engines so not valid for the OP's engine - just to remove that mentioned capacity from things.

Wow, longest answer in the world.

I would just say, check your handbook it says in there [emoji2]

As said in the previous posting, this is a VW so no chance of listing capacities, same for Audis and maybe even SEATs.

There's no "ouch" about it. mines OK never had any problem.
Let's get this right, that part on your car was also rusting, and you cleaned it up and applied Waxoyl - does the Waxoyl not smell a bit when it burns off?

Re: Weird ticking noise on startup - POLO 2013 TSI 1.2 105HP

Remember that there is no drive chain on these 1.2TSI 16V engines, so another part causing that problem, although there will be tensioners on both belts.

Re: Polo boot

If not in the MMI setup menu, then easily done using a tool like VCDS, but maybe your insurance company would need to be informed. I accept that the way these cars have been set up at factory for years can be a bit annoying, but I really do try to remember when I need to unlock the boot, otherwise w...

Re: 2019 R-Line - Engine Rusting!

Ouch, I'd be ignoring that advice, that area is part of the turbo charger and they have a habit of getting quite hot!
