Re: Rear seats

Cheers guys. I got then without breaking any clips. Being a mechanic helps (proper tools) the rear seats are a pain. Pretty much all the rear trim. All thr isofix slots out. And then they literally yank vertically out. Ps VW wanted more to fit said belt than the belt cost. £170 for the belt £180 to...

Re: Service Interval Question

So next service, which will just be an oil and filter change when 10K miles has passed. So, by your figure for this years running, you will have run 14.5K miles over 12 month period, that if it continues, puts you into the longlife or variable servicing area if you continue doing that mileage in a y...

Re: Polo 6C GTI brake pads

I find it very strange is that EBC only manufacture these brake pads with the wear warning It could be that because EBC are not a very large scale manufacturer, just making all of certain pads with built in wear warning system is cheaper for them than manufacturing 2 different versions, as said alr...

Re: Coolant and oil levels

Any air in the system will finally make its way to the highest point in the system and so it will get carried onwards into the reservoir by that small hose - by design.

Re: Radio stuck on Starting Telephone

Right, now to work out if it is a late 6R or an early 6C Polo, look at the engine, is the turbo at the front or the rear of the engine? If it is at the front then you have a 6R Polo, if the turbo is at the rear of the engine then you have a 6C Polo. I'd not think that any of this changes if you need...

Re: 9n polo rear exterior handle removal

I'd think so, I've never had to find out about that, maybe look for a Haynes manual going cheap as it would answer lots of questions and make your life a bit easier.

Re: Coolant and oil levels

Hi SRGTD, thanks for replying. A really interesting post, I hadn't realised that air could be in the system and over a short period of time will work its way out but sounds so plausible now you've mentioned it. I've got some G13 but I think I'll get a bottle of VW mixing fluid too - cheap enough at...

Re: Radio stuck on Starting Telephone

Things like radio code keys have vanished, that radio will become part of the car when first connected to it if it was a "virgin/new unused" one when fitted, if not it would have needed to be "aligned" to that car, so no issue with pulling out fuses, though remember it will have a permanent feed as ...

Re: Weird ticking noise on startup - POLO 2013 TSI 1.2 105HP

Over the years there has been a lot of chat about this problem of "old O-ring seal left in when replacing the oil filter" on these VW Group motoring forums, really not a good idea design wise. The return/non return valve plate idea was for, I think, the vertically mounted, or near vertically mounted...

Re: Polo 9N 2001 1.4 16V Rear brake hoses

The different calliper materials should ideally demand different sealing washer materials, but I just accepted that the refurbed maybe by Pagid Lucas rear callipers ended up getting supplied with copper sealing washers was due to cost on Pagid's part, as well as the initial terrible stories that wer...

Re: Polo 9N 1.4 16V TRW Calipers - banjo bolt torque setting

From the 6R Polo Haynes book 35Nm for the front bajo bolt and nothing for the rear ones, maybe as you have discovered - nothing much in the 9N Polo Haynes book other than fully tighten! In my experience, these banjo bolts, when used on brake callipers are only ever used with flat aluminium sealing w...

Re: Polo 9N 2001 1.4 16V Rear brake hoses

I'd wonder if TRW supplied these hoses to the factory at original build, to be honest, most hoses that say that they fit that application would work for me, I tended to only buy VW Group flexi hoses so that I ended up with the correct item, both for end fittings and length. The new hose should alway...

Re: Creaking from Dashboard?

I had a rattle that I could swear was coming from the left of the dash. I had a passenger at one point, he was convinced that it was coming from my side of the dash. Eventually I tracked it down to being from some sunglasses that I had put in the overhead compartment, sliding and bouncing around. I...
