Re: Exhaust joining piece clamp rusted through
I think exhaust sleeve clamps without the dimple will work as well. The clamps on the VW part seem to be mild steel. Was it the clamp that rust out or the connecting pipe material? Oh yes, just the mild steel clamps! The worst of the damage/wear and tear to the split connecting piece was rust stain...

Re: Exhaust joining piece clamp rusted through
The first "red arrow" in the diagram above is the flexi section. The part number of the joining piece I fitted was 1KO 253 141 M but I think that the design has now been changed to either make these joining pieces more robust or just cheaper (to manufacture). You could just fit any suitabl...

Exhaust joining piece clamp rusted through
This is a well know issue with all VW Group at least petrol, cars, usually around the 8 years 50,000miles mark one of the joining piece clamps ends up rusting all the way through and so needing replaced before the second one does the same. For me, it was the spotting of lots of bits of rust had sudd...

Re: Expansion tank return hose 2002 9N 1.4
I'm afraid it is not brilliant news, the number was 6Q0 122 447 AN was for autos, now it seems - comments are 01/09/2022 dropped without any replacement! As usual, maybe using these numbers in ebay etc might point you to some NOS being sold. Good Luck! Edit:- one used from a breaker, used - one new ...

Re: Front discs and pads
I've just realised that my suggestion that it could have been a rusting spring ring in the dust cover for your front brakes, is total nonsense! It seems, from your description or re-assembling things after fitting seals and new dust covers, that your FS111 callipers have "soft" dust covers...

Re: AC starts automatically
Please watch this video Rum4mo it’s very interesting , not a polo but a golf that’s 6 months old. https://youtu.be/troc9DDaJkM?si=Cuezw3amFVTA0grM Very interesting! I wonder when the car industry started adding back in a clutch into the AC compressor, maybe when R1234yf refrigerant started to get u...

Re: AC starts automatically
It is designed this way to be ‘on’ by default to keep the gas moving around the system ,if you don’t use it often enough the seals fail and you loose the gas. I think that that is a very old fact, nowadays it is just a story, since the introduction variable displacement AC compressors, ie they don'...

Re: Model identification
As said already, it is a 6C Polo, but if you want to be sue about the engine, look under the bonnet, if it is a belt driven cam shaft engine, the cam belt cover will be black plastic and there will be an engine designation label on it CJZC which is the 90PS version. If you want another way to check ...

Re: 1.2 TSI Front Brakes and Suspension Queries
If you plan to keep this car, why not just buy a copy of the official workshop manual from somewhere, like easymanuals.co.uk - it tends to get sent out over the internet, mine has been very useful for torques etc, include "can be reused" - "replace" in respect to fixings. On that...

Re: 1.2 TSI Front Brakes and Suspension Queries
If you had access to the official VW Group parts listing, you would see that there is a comment along side the front brake pads, which indicates that you just chop off the wear sensor wiring. I spent quite a long time trying to find new front pads that did not have a wear sensor - and failed, I thou...

Re: V-Belt life time
I plan to replace the V-Belt quite soon as my wife's Polo 1.2TSI 110PS SEL, is an August 2015 car, mileage at its 9th birthday will be roughly 50,000miles. You should check the condition of this belt at service time, if it is showing any signs of cracks appearing on the micro grooves, then it is tim...

Re: Annoying Rattle/Knocking
That last posting I made is slightly wrong, I've just worked that out after posting, anyway, the shims do not get fitted to the calliper, they get fitted to the calliper carrier bracket - so I will not have to check my wife's rear RHS brake!

Re: Annoying Rattle/Knocking
On the 6C Polos with rear disc brakes, at least in my wife's August 2015 1.2TSI, there is no shims fitted. I tried buying a suitable set of shims, but unless I file/grind off some metal from the rear pads or calliper, there is not enough room for these shims. Mind you, I had to replace the RHS rear ...

Re: Coolant Question
Yes, that is the latest version of coolant. For anyone that does not know this, VW Group coolant went from G11 to G12 to G12+ to G12++ and then onto G13 which addressed all previous issues, was better than either of the G12 versions and maybe even produced using a "greener" process - and t...
