Re: Strange throttle issue

The car's engine ECU is recognising the road speed, that will be why it does not do this when the car is stationary.

Re: How major are these issues a garage noted?

On the brake calliper thing, I did follow the "Irish guy" and made up a "dust cover fitting tool" from a suitably sized vitamins container - that worked very well and ended up with a satisfying metallic "clunk" when the piston was pushed down and met the lead screw of t...

Alloy bodied water pumps, so the penny has finally dropped - plastic is not the future, currently!

Re: How major are these issues a garage noted?

@spartacus68, when you say "You need to break the tie-rod end, and usually the nut is seized.", I'm guessing that you meant the steering track rod end - when taking the struts off? I'm not trying to be pedantic, just worried if I've missed something, that is all. I still "feel the nee...

Re: How major are these issues a garage noted?

I think that the mounting bush from the MK1 Audi TT is also a non voided one if you feel the need to keep the parts genuine VW group - the Lemforder voided mounting bushes that I bought from ECP is in fact got the VW Group part number on it as they supply VW group. I'm not too sure about changing to...

Re: How major are these issues a garage noted?

The CV boot being cut will be an MOT failure on its own. The coolant leak needs sorting out before it ends up causing overheating>damage. The front lower arm rear bushes might even cause an MOT black mark, either way they need sorting out ASAP as excessive/uneven front tyre wear could be occurring. ...

Re: Part numbers and associated date code?

Sorry if you know this already, but the "dates" shown in the parts listings are for production line build dates, you can get the actual build date from any VW main dealership's parts department, maybe ask they for a printout of your car's CAR DATA - I make a habit of getting a copy of CAR ...

Re: Front discs and pads

I'm just resurrecting this thread as I might have something to add to what has been said already. Okay it concerns a much newer Polo, a 2015 VW Polo 1.2TSI 110PS, so that means ATE FN3 front callipers with 54mm pistons and Lucas/TRW rear callipers with 38mm pistons, at around the 48,000 miles and 8....

A build error at the Skoda engine plant - they do seem to make a few errors?!

Re: CJZD oil level sensor?

I would have thought so, unless your sales market Polo 1.2TSI 110PS is not spec'd to have an oil level fitted.

Re: GTI Dipstick Removal.

Well, when I serviced my daughter's May 2019 SEAT Leon Cupra last year, I have to admit that one of these "lugs" flew off, I can't imagine that her partner checks the oil for her very often as he doesn't find modern cars interesting - unfortunately! I put that failure down to normal VW Gro...

Re: How can I fix this?

If you can live without your car maybe bite the bullet as this is spoiling your ownership of what could be a good car - and the VW warranty clock is ticking away, and after that they will not be too interested in helping you out.

Re: How can I fix this?

More expense, but this is where VCDS comes into its own, if you had VCDS, you could or should scan the car and save the results - okay VW Group workshops claim that VCDS is complete junk and can't be trusted - taking that false view suits their workshops very well, but at least it lets you see a tre...

Re: How can I fix this?

Yes, you do seem to have been caught in a trap in as much as if you want to risk that the car's warranty covers this repair, then you must suffer your VW dealership's initial costs to diagnose. Going down the VAG Indie route could end up being cheaper - but if something costly is the root cause then...

Re: Rear Axle beam has snapped

Oh thanks. I suppose I could fit a disc brake axle but would probably end up needing new discs and pads, plus a recode for ABS. Yes, I like having rear discs as for me they are easier to service, but, and there is a big "but", VW Group always use aluminium alloy callipers for rear "d...
