Re: Please tell me if the mechanic has make a mistaken replacing my ball joints
Pity your parts fitter does not know or remember "the VW Group way" - ie with "handed parts, the part with the numerically lower part number, of a handed "pair" is always the LHS side - ie driver's side in main or at least Germany markets. "left is odd" is the way...

Re: Please tell me if the mechanic has make a mistaken replacing my ball joints
Sorry for late reply if im looking correctly the arrow is pointing to front of the car ( seat ibiza) ( Markings R3 L4) Knuckle LHD ( drivers side) - UK ( passanger side) The track rod mounting ear faces the rear of the car Yes, correct, the L4 "faces" the same direction as the arrow - ie ...

Re: Fume smell coming out of air vents
Maybe try to find where the PCV gets connected to the top of the engine, if this has been cracked/broken during the service - seems easy enough to break and as it is made out of plastic, maybe it hardens with age - if it is broken off, crankcase fumes will be escaping but some will some oil in mist ...

Re: Please tell me if the mechanic has make a mistaken replacing my ball joints
Yup, I was wondering what the "goo" showing on the top of the LCA in your first picture was coming from - drive shaft boot damaged I'd think, but what did that? Edit:- I should have included that the look/colour of that "stuff" matches that of the moly grease that is used in CV j...

Re: Please tell me if the mechanic has make a mistaken replacing my ball joints
Yes, I agree, but how/why the lower swivels are on the wrong side must just be down to your fitter's error, initially I had assumed that these LCAs were bought complete with swivels fitted. Edit:- it will only be the Ibiza Cupra and A1 S or S and RS that get solid rear mounting bushes. So I've assum...

Re: Please tell me if the mechanic has make a mistaken replacing my ball joints
Okay, as I'm in the position to compare a pair of lower swivels for a 2015 6C Polo 1.2TSI 110PS, I can say that fitting a RHS swivel to a LHS track control arm, will effectively move the position of the road wheel back approx 20mm. Similarly if you fit a LHS swivel to a RHS track control arm, the ro...

Re: Please tell me if the mechanic has make a mistaken replacing my ball joints
Tinman, yes I agree that your pictures show exactly what I found in that workshop manual, so that is good. Edit:- oh, from reading your last posting, one is certainly wrong for that side if that view if "looking towards the rear"! Remember these lower swivels can be used in reverse to achi...

Re: Please tell me if the mechanic has make a mistaken replacing my ball joints
I've just checked the official VW workshop manual for "2010>" and "2014>" and for cars with 14/15" wheels, which will include those with 16" factory fitted options, identifies the LHS lower swivel as having, when viewed from above, an arrow pointing forwards and an L4 p...

Re: 2020 polo clutch problem
Hi , I am interested in this topic, I have a 2020 VW Polo R-Line that has an intermittent issue with the clutch pedal going spongey. I am wondering if anyone else has seen that issue? I tried to raise a new thread but I don't seem to have the correct access to do so. I'd hazard a guess that you wou...

Re: Polo 6C Engine mount
That seems to have been a bit annoying, I don't think that anyone would have expected that from Febi, maybe some funky Feeby lookie likie stuff being sold around the world! Just one comment, ALL the bolts associated with that rear/top gearbox mounting are "torqued to yield" so should not b...

Re: Front Right Wheel Squeak
Many years ago, my older daughter bought a used SEAT Ibiza from "uncle arnie's car emporium" - the maybe "all car brands" outlet down from Edinburgh Audi - near the tram lines. I made sure that the crap tyres were removed and replaced with Michelins from Costco, but before doing ...

Re: Automatic Door Locking
Is this feature, ie auto locking, not just, on balance, a positive addition to driver/passenger safety - I know that everyone has the right to think otherwise, I have always made the point to enable this feature on cars that came to UK that did not have that feature enabled, or in later models, that...

Re: Front Right Wheel Squeak
Another reason for this is that it could have had a front hub bearing replaced (bearing is part of hub), and not seated correctly, or it has "walked out" of the hub - which means in reality that the bearing stays in place but the hub moves out slightly. These, and most VW Group cars, just ...
