Re: Coolant Question

Yes, that is the latest version of coolant. For anyone that does not know this, VW Group coolant went from G11 to G12 to G12+ to G12++ and then onto G13 which addressed all previous issues, was better than either of the G12 versions and maybe even produced using a "greener" process - and t...

Re: AC evaporator cleaning question

I've had a leaking pressure transducer on a 2009 SEAT Ibiza - same as VW Polo, that was easy to spot and fix with a genuine latest version of transducer from VW Group. Dye, yes, it will probably come to that, my only issue with that is, and agreed with with a proper large fridge plant engineer, usin...

Re: AC evaporator cleaning question

Hum, on the subject of leaking evaporator, I have a feeling that that is what is wrong with my wife's August 2015 Polo 1.2TSI, I can't find the leak, it is sealed well enough to be legal for a car AC place to recharge, but the charge only lasts 4 weeks, or now maybe even less, which is good enough t...

Re: AC evaporator cleaning question

A very long time ago, that was the way that car evaporators were sanitised - and I might just have a tin of "stuff" that has that same long straw - but I've got no plans to use it - if I can ever find where I stored it, the long straw is kept in beside a central heating boiler, so that it ...

Re: Bad vibration and shake after changing LCA

What brand of spring was fitted back then, and was that work just to replace a broken spring?

I always replace the top mounting and bearing when or if needing to replace a front spring on my cars - doing that saves time going forward, but might cost a bit more.

Re: Reverse lights stay on??

That is inconvenient if it does not have a "gear selected" displayed on the dash, as that could have helped a bit in your diagnosis, so I'd doubt if it has any other switches on the gearbox other than the reverse switch. Mind you maybe none of the cars even newer ones have a neutral switch...

Re: Old VW antics

Bosch AGM failed early, not good, I still have the new Bosch AGM that I bought for my wife's 2015 Polo - just before Brexit hit us, just in case supplies became trickier and more costly - that was a complete double or treble fail as battery supplies continued as before, prices did not rise much - an...

Re: Reverse lights stay on??

First of all, what is the result if you leave the switch cable unplugged, if yes then. next step. If the reversing lights stay off, then with the switch off the car, plug in the switch, is the result lights still off, if so, can you compress the switch until the reversing light comes on, if yes, the...

Re: Getting into car with dead battery and broken keys.

Good result, and thanks for getting back to us in case it helps someone. So, did you then repair the "key lock" so that you will, if this happens again for any other reason, be able to unlock this car, also do you have 2 working keys for this car, if not sort that out as well. Edit:- remem...

Re: Strange throttle issue

The car's engine ECU is recognising the road speed, that will be why it does not do this when the car is stationary.

Re: How major are these issues a garage noted?

On the brake calliper thing, I did follow the "Irish guy" and made up a "dust cover fitting tool" from a suitably sized vitamins container - that worked very well and ended up with a satisfying metallic "clunk" when the piston was pushed down and met the lead screw of t...

Re: How major are these issues a garage noted?

@spartacus68, when you say "You need to break the tie-rod end, and usually the nut is seized.", I'm guessing that you meant the steering track rod end - when taking the struts off? I'm not trying to be pedantic, just worried if I've missed something, that is all. I still "feel the nee...
