Re: Squeaking on reverse. Clutch, brakes, wheel bearings or what?

My 1.0 tsi SE had a squeek when applying the brakes when reversing from new until about 10000 miles. It reduced from very loud to nothing during this period.

Re: Long Term Ownership.

I have a 2018 1.0 tsi SE in reef blue. When I bought it new it was a toss up between it and a mini cooper. I also intend to keep this car a long time and have owned many new VWs. Somehow the mini didn't seem worth the money even though it was probably a lot more fun to own. I also have no intention ...

Re: Help needed from Polo owners with climate control

I dont have climate but that definitely is not right. Those clips should not be showing. Shame the dealership cant identify this as being OBVIOUSLY wrong.

Re: Jerky 1.0 tsi manual

An update to my original message at the start of this post. Last week I had the engine management light appear and car seemed to be in limp mode. Took to dealers and diagnosis was a seized Turbo actuator which has just been replaced under warranty. Cant help wondering whether or not this was the cau...

Do I need to worry about this oil appearing?

Hi all My Dads mk9 1.2 tsi has a small amount of oil appearing on top of the engine. We have cleaned the area but in time it reappears. 20200617_154546.jpg In the centre of the photo is a black torx bolt head. You can just about see the oil in the recesses around it. We dont really know what these p...

Re: How to find state of charge of battery?

Possible a request too far on small cars at this point in time, handy to have though, I think that I have a battery meter in my own car, but never used it as that car gets its battery maintained using a CTEK unit when left in the garage. My dad has this on his previous generation polo SE. Doesn't s...

Re: Scraping sound from brakes

I don't think it's the same issue but you reminded me of a problem I had that is definitely worth sharing. I had a very severe grinding noise coming from the front brakes a while ago. Not just when braking - when ever the car was in motion. Turned out to be a stone from our gravel drive that stuck t...

Re: Front assist, sensor impaired

I've had the error twice. Both times on the motorway in the dark with heavy rain, loads of spray and heavy traffic. Just what I needed while concentrating on staying alive was a loud Ding, a bright yellow warning light and a message to read!!!! And the badge was clean. I hate front assist. I have al...

Re: Changing the battery

It is a Feb 2015 built car with 15000miles. Many thanks for your help on this guys. Dad has since had a quote from the other VW dealer in the area for £186 and has decided to go with it. Surprising how different 2 VW dealers can be on price! Do you know if it's ok to use a Smart charger on this mode...

Changing the battery

Hi all Just wondered if anyone has changed/disconnected their battery on a mk9 polo? My Dad has been told by 2 non VW garages that his 4 year old battery is duff. He is also being told that there could be issues with codes and the stop start system when the battery is disconnected and specialised eq...

Re: Washer Fluid Filter Cap - Dropped

S_94 my gauze filter is not attached to the filler neck either. It has an array of teeth around the outside edge that look like they serve a perpose but there is no way of locking it in. I have nearly lost it every time i filled up as the foam bubbles from the screenwash fluid rise up the neck and p...

Re: Brake clunk

Hi Veteran (sorry I dont know how to include previous message text)
My clunk only happened when reversing as soon as I touched the brake pedal.
Definitely sounded like it came from the front.
As said before it went away on its own after a year/12000 miles
