Re: Heating and ventilation

My 2018 AW has been as you describe since new. Definitely no water egress. I seem to have better sucess keeping the screen clear by NOT aiming the air at the screen. I agree keeping it clean helps a lot. When ever i get in the car on a cold or damp morning i put the control straight to feet and blow...

Re: Creaking from Dashboard?

This is no help to you but just for reference, ive had my polo from new in 2018 and have never experienced a single rattle or buzz. Good luck in identifying the cause.

Re: Passanger side window won’t auto down with one touch.

I have exactly the same problem with the driver side window switch. It started when i picked the car up from it's last service. I assumed the vw trained technician must have been a bit heavy handed with it. I didnt bother complaining as i guessed they would never accept responsibility and just imply...

Re: automatic braking -discovered!

Completely agree with Andy. I've had the brakes slam on at least 3 times for no reason.
I switch it off every time I get in the car.
As I'm always paying attention to what's in front of me I think it's more likely to cause an accident than prevent one.

Re: Steering knock

I had a similar problem with my 2006 polo. Seemed to send a low knock through the steering wheel when turning into a junction especially with a slightly uneven road surface although not every time. I complained several times during the warranty period and (apparently) had the whole front suspension ...

Re: Alarm issue

Like SRGTD, I also had a problem just like you describe but on a non VW car I once owned. It also turned out to be the alarm backup battery at fault.

Re: Grating scraping noise

Do you park on a gravel driveway by any chance? This sounds very similar to my experience which turned out to be a 30mm piece of gravel sat in a cavity in the top of the front wheel bearing housing. The bottom of the cavity is open and close to the top of the rotating hub so the stone was occasional...

Re: Squeaking on reverse. Clutch, brakes, wheel bearings or what?

My 1.0 tsi SE had a squeek when applying the brakes when reversing from new until about 10000 miles. It reduced from very loud to nothing during this period.

Re: Long Term Ownership.

I have a 2018 1.0 tsi SE in reef blue. When I bought it new it was a toss up between it and a mini cooper. I also intend to keep this car a long time and have owned many new VWs. Somehow the mini didn't seem worth the money even though it was probably a lot more fun to own. I also have no intention ...

I dont have climate but that definitely is not right. Those clips should not be showing. Shame the dealership cant identify this as being OBVIOUSLY wrong.

Re: Jerky 1.0 tsi manual

An update to my original message at the start of this post. Last week I had the engine management light appear and car seemed to be in limp mode. Took to dealers and diagnosis was a seized Turbo actuator which has just been replaced under warranty. Cant help wondering whether or not this was the cau...

Do I need to worry about this oil appearing?

Hi all My Dads mk9 1.2 tsi has a small amount of oil appearing on top of the engine. We have cleaned the area but in time it reappears. 20200617_154546.jpg In the centre of the photo is a black torx bolt head. You can just about see the oil in the recesses around it. We dont really know what these p...
