well what I was thinking is get the middle box from a place I know that does it for £45 and get one of these aftermarket twin exhausts from ebay for about £100 or so, cos its just way cheaper than the OEM VW option

I went and got the tool but the piston was basically locked in place :/ I had to get a give it a little tap to be able to use the tool as there was not enough room, The pads where down to the last 1mm. But its night now and I just didnt have time to get to the other one so I'll have to ...

both New never been on the car. But seen as I got the GTi now I have no need for them.

These have both just been in my garage for the past 6 months or so doing nothing.

decided that the 6n has been off the road for too long now so this weekend I am hoping to at least get it running again.

Basically theres a grounding issue which is draining the battery and when starting not getting enough power to it to crank it over.
I just wana know if any of you ...

1. Symptoms encountered - How did you notice it
Rattling from the drivers side of the engine

2. How/Who diagnosed the problem - dealer, yourself
Had an idea of what it was, a garage round the corner from me confirmed it.

wow thanks for the info, and I was using my SAT Nav as well to see the differance in the clock and the sat nav.
