Agreed when I sold my 1st car a Toyota Starlet I was paid £3300, where Parkers, etc. was talking £2500. I also sold my last car a Mk5 Golf GTI DSG based on prices on Autotrader as opposed to Parkers/WhatCar guides and managed it fine - really wierdly (because I hate it when ads say this) it was th...

To be honest I suspect that £5.5K is REALLY pushing it, and a price more in the ballpark of £4.5K - £4.8K is more realistic, even with the work you've done. Its what other have suggested as well recently.

Only thing for me is its a time limited offer - shows as running to end of December, and I've serviced my Car in August. Wonder if they'll extend this when it comes to January.

Seems this problem is happening to us all recently. I had it happen about 2 weeks ago, and replaced the sensor that someone has replaced previously (the parts was date stamped 04 2004) with the new part mentioned by tegwin (black different shape and with a white tip, appears to work on a different m...

Thats of course IF u have the Calliper rewind tool, last time we did mine it was fairly late on when we realised we'd need one, and so had to go off and borrow one from someone else - v lucky, otherwise its shockingly bad to do.

that'd be it ;) (if u can find anyone with a Halfords Trade Card, that'll take a small amount off). Not sure where else sells it. Know Euro Car Parts have started selling Castrol Oils, so might be worth checking if they can also supply it.

Only noticed posts since I mentioned anything ;) I'd say £300 sounds pretty reasonable to change the clutch. Not sure on Gearbox itself. I and a few others have tried changing their gearbox oil and clutch cable. I'd expect if you're changing your clutch, they'll do the cable, so might be worth aski...

I wouldn't know, but you could always get a 2nd opinion put your mind at rest (as long as they don't charge you).
Just out of interest whereabouts are you because I'm in Chester, don't know if that's miles from you or not.

OEM means Original Equipment Manufacturer. Or put another way use the VW Part. You don't need a new plug just a new Sump Washer. You should be able to get this from Euro Car Parts or similar (I'd expect German Swedish French do similar (GSF). I used Castrol Edge last time I changed my Oil, it was 5W...

It would seem there is still a fair difference though between the Mid to Late 90's 6N model and the 2000-2 6N2 since the 6N get a 3 Stars, as compared to the 6N2's 4 Stars. Having looked at the EuroNCAP site itself, from the sorts of info thats available the 6N2 gets Airbags, Seat Belt Load Limiters...

Not that safety is everyone's priority, but I did look at 147's a long while back when I eventually bought a last gen Civic. The 147 only gets a 3 star NCAP rating, and thats only because of its side impact result. In a Frontal accident there not supposed to be too hot. I have to admit though they'r...
