Re: Polo/Lupo GTI Manifold - Are they the same?
Are you actually considering this? £670 for a 10BHP increase? Don't get me wrong, it looks really really nice... But fooook me! But saying that I wouldn't mind knowing the answer as well, I asked KAMracing and I just received a half arsed e-mail saying 'I don't know'.. Good sales tactics there Mr KA...

Re: Gearbox Oil Change - Price?
Harrogate in North Yorkshire fella. The local VW dealer wants £165!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (they MUST have misunderstood my question surely!!!) Jesus!!! No joke, I could do it for you in 30 Mins using a poor mans tool kit, it's really easy! £17.06 for 3 litres of VW gearbox oil is what it cost me a few mo...

Nooooooo, you can't...
But they are the same clips as in all mk5 headlights, so buy some used standard headlights and take one from there...

Re: Clutch Replacement
Vaelo is OEM I think.
Literally on the top of your gearbox you'll see the cable, and a black nut style thing, it may be stiff, but you can rotate that to tighten or slacken the cable.. Try tightening it..

Re: Clutch Replacement
About £200 - £300
£100 for the clutch and the rest for labour..
Make sure you get a good clutch like Sachs, Vaelo or LUK.
How stiff is your pedal? have you tried adjusting the clutch cable?

Re: Driveshafts and hubs - Are they GTi Specific?
Dont go with used wheel bearings - well actually you cant go for used wheel bearings. They shatter when they are removed from the hub lol :P Plus for the cost of them, if its failing you might as well replace it, as otherwise youll end up replacing the hub aswell which just isnt worth the hassle Oh...

Re: Driveshafts and hubs - Are they GTi Specific?
wheel bearings howl when they fail. CV joints knock on corners and under harsh acceleration CV boot kit is 15 quid, as for the joints expect £70+ if not a great deal more, and wheel bearings about £40 a side Hence why I'm buying used! It's coming from the o/s wheel area so 100% not gearbox (what ev...

Re: Driveshafts and hubs - Are they GTi Specific?
Well, my car is making a wub wub wub wub wub kinda sound, it's probably a wheel bearing, but could be the CV joint.. I might try and get some used items and swap them over for the time being.
Anyone know the price of new wheel bearings and DV joints from VW? I'm guessing muchos $$$$$$

Re: Driveshafts and hubs - Are they GTi Specific?
Not sure about the Hubs but I know the Driveshafts are specific to the GTI. I have been told they are not available for VW anymore and rather than have them replaced they need to be repaired & re-fitted. I'm not sure how true that is but hopefully Alex can clarify that Balls, I presume you can ...

Where does that go out to? Isn't the Aircon/rad in the way?
It's a bit close to the exhaust manifold is it not?

Re: Nigel's GTI - The Big Coilover Dilemma
what an offer!! Anyone got any experience with D2 Coilovers? I know nothing about them but judging on the price they sell in the UK at... they're hardly budget coilovers! Once again, Thanks Rich :D What a brilliant find! I may have to invest.. time to get saving :D I've done some research and they ...

Re: GTi 1.6 16v metal/alloy air intake?
Yeah the o/s foglight has been used by quite a few people in the past (mainly people with the 1.8T conversion) but as Alex quite rightly points out it isnt really that pratical and you do stand a good chance of getting water into the throttle body. Plus it does slightly put a dent in the image of t...

Re: GTi 1.6 16v metal/alloy air intake?
I'm wanting to do this too.
I'm planning on relocating the charcoal canister, and using the o/s fog light as a ram air feed..
I need to make some measurements so i'll let people know when I do.
I reckon the noise difference would be unreal.

Re: rollcage and bodywork
Will or can the rollcages be built to meet racing specifications? I'd be looking at a multipoint cage attached to the rear and front struts, is that something you can do? I don't want any of this show crap. Also, what about arch rolling? Need some arch work in the next few months as my arches need s...
